Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Tsquare, Almost sounded spiteful!
I can tell you that Delta is walking a fine line with the twin cities market. I have lived there my whole life and never seen so many people looking for new travel options. My buddy's company (one of the many fortune 500 companies in the twin cities) requires him to drive to a plant in Omaha, NE. Vs. flying. Also noticed that many of these flights are exclusively large RJ now. Perhaps Delta is placing those planes in the msp market because there is a lack of real competition, I don't have the answer but other airlines are taking notice and starting to poach the msp traveler.

Now, as the CEO of the combined companies, he is performing very adequately in that capacity. It is all about 1+1=1.5.
Debt is being reduced, capacity trimmed, revenue tweaked, head count optimized and duplication eliminated.
Revenue increases (first profit in the first quarter in who knows how long) and stock hit a five year high intraday last week. That makes for some happy investors and tasty bonuses.
Now, as an employee of DAL, or a customer that lives in CVG, MSP, MEM, or DFW, what is important to you might not align with what is important for the suits on Mahogany Row.
It is all about the Benjamin$ now. Not N vs. S. The trick presently is to come together as one posse, become immune to the various streams of propaganda, and think critically. Perhaps then we will not leave too many of those Benjamin$ on the table again in the next negotiation.
YOLO at this career. The chances to improve our agreement are fleeting and need to be leveraged at every opportunity to its max potential. Examples: New FTD regs going forward. Fixing the increasingly inadequate rest areas.
OK, rant over. Back to some March Madness and watching my little one at this weekends 12 U volleyball tournament. Fly safe.

Gotta Read "Fate Is The Hunter"...read it three times and it has applied to a different part of my career at each reading. Gives you a GREAT perspective of how far we have come and, yet, makes you kinda sad at the loss of our "machismo"....Should be required reading for anyone that sits in an airline cockpit...

At CPZ the Jumpseat priority is as follows:
1. CPZ
2. DAL
3. DCI
4. OAL
That being said, Delta's procedure is for the gate agent to issue the JS pass at 15 prior to scheduled departure. Inside of 15 minutes its first come first served. CPZ pilots gladly take the FA JS to get DAL or other OAL pilots on board. We even allowed DAL pilots on our FA JS's for quite some time hoping for reciprocation but it didn't work. Anyhow, if you see a CPZ pilot I hope you'll reconsider your personal JS philosophy.

Re: Beer
In the NW, I'm always drinking Deschutes Black Butte Porter. I promise you won't miss the hops...
Also, if you have some time in SEA, go on the Road Dogs Brewery tour. Van picks up two locations around Pike's. The guide asks you what kinds of beer you like, and if you have been to any of the breweries already and will adjust the tour to your tastes or so you can try new stuff. I talked the owner into giving a crew discount, ask for Dustin...
Read all of the above; great suggestions. I would li to add North Star Over My Shoulder by Bob Buck. Buck started flying DC-2s for TWA and retired on their 747s. He also had some interesting assignments through TWA for weather studies and flying a movie star around the world. It's really a great read.

I'm not sure about this. I just talked to the MSP General Manager for Delta a couple months ago and I asked him what's the future of Delta and MSP look like. He said that it's looking positive. He said that MSP is making lots of money and is one of the markets where we will see a significant amount of "up-gauging" in aircraft. He also said that the international flights are doing better than expected and he thinks we will see a couple more added this summer and next year (once the A330 mods are complete).
I don't think MSP is a Memphis or CVG type of situation. I think the shift in flying to Atlanta is more a product of capacity rather than finances. MSP is a two runway operation and even when it's VFR you often find yourself getting slowed down, delay vectors, or even holding. Atlanta can just handle much more traffic more efficiently than MSP.
Financially the twin cities has always been a gem for Northwest. There's alot of educated people in Minnesota with a relatively high medium income. And there are several fortune 500 businesses headquartered there and Delta has the corporate contracts locked up with most of them. I think one of the above graphs shows MSP with the second highest yields/departures in our system. As for the "low cost" carriers creeping in, I think most people are learning that Southwest rarely has the lowest fair anymore, and I think Delta is ok with Southwest and Sun Country picking off some of the low-fare vacation / Vegas flyers.
