BTW, I'm digging holding a line.

I see why 80% of the pilots here do it.

Besides, they cut so many reserves on the 88, you don't want to touch weekends off reserve.

$50 powered antenna from Walmart pulls in the 4 big networks in HD plus PBS and some other random stations. That and $8/mo for Hulu Plus - streamed through the BluRay - and the occasional Redbox suits us just fine. Total of $10-12/mo on entertainment needs.

Report: ABC building live streaming TV app, Hulu's future in doubt - FierceMobileContent

Interesting they're doing it, but I never trust anyone who says something's future is in doubt.

Depending on who your internet provider is, ESPN will let you watch *some* of its programming for free via online streaming. It's hit or miss, though.

When it comes to sports, I have yet to find a consistent solution if you're looking to walk away from cable or satellite. My wife is an airline pilot as well, so there's someone at the house maybe 3 or 4 nights per week. It made our decision about cable easier, but overall it's not a panacea.

Me too... the phone rang yesterday and I was actually excited, haha.

We watch Disney, NickJr, PBS, Nova, Modern Family, How It's Made and that's it. So Roku might be around the corner for us. Of course we'll need a higher power internet then DSL so who knows.

Sports? I don't even have time for 4 hours of sports watching and I haven't figured out what the plan is there.
Yeah.. I'm sick of comcast raising their prices more and more... its bullcrap. I watch a good amount of tv, but no movie channels. The prices directv has advertised is far far better than what comcast wants to charge now!

BTW, for the 717... that is exactly what they are doing is setting the high ALV so it can be lower later in the year when there are more pilots. There are only 8 converted 717 pilots total in May!

FUEL PRICES!

Gas at the pump is over $3.50 today, what was it 30 years ago? 75 cents? Less? The cost of Jet Fuel has gone up at least 300% in the past 30 years, yet airline ticket prices have not gone up at all.

Not at all.

In 30 years.

You can still buy a ticket today on Air Tran for $49. You cannot drive to the airport and park your car for that.

The Talking Heads refuse to admit they should be paying well over $1,000 one way, every coach ticket, for a one hour flight. But they are still paying $100-300.

Same as in 1985, when Av Gas was about 70 cents a gallon.

The price of everything else in the world had gone up at least 300% in the past 30 years, yet airline ticket prices are about the same as they were back then.

So...where did the "Difference" come from? Who has been paying for the huge run up in Av Gas prices over the past 30 years, if not the ticket buyers??

Look in your DB retirement plan and check your paycheck, then you'll see who's been paying for it. We are still being paid at 30 year old rates.

These TV Tools who spout off about how they are being raped by the airlines, need to pull their heads out and do some basic math. Inflation adjusted from 1985, they should be paying over $3,000 for a ticket from JFK to LAX today, yet they are still only paying $300.

Thank GOD (or Dog for you dyslexic agnostics) the Majors are finally consolidating and have stopped undercutting each other with stupid fare wars. Extra Fees? Yeah, fk you, pay me!
Yeah it really puts it in perspective if you tour our musuem in ATL and read the boards in front of the original DAL a/c. Really don't remember the type of a/c, just that it was a single engine we started service with from Mississippi to Texas for about $250 a ticket. I'm sure you can still fly from MS to TX for about the same price.....over 80 years later
