whilst doing my daily perusal of daily trip coverage to see if someone got a greenslip that could've been mine, I noticed something odd.

in DTW 777B on 3 june trip coverage, it listed a trip for a guy that started on 1june ending 3 june. How does that happen.

I know its not because my computer is a time machine.

Just so we are clear, for Sailing, what you are saying is that your overall trend has been positive?

FTB, the water in your pot is not boiling, it is bathwater temperature...trust us...signed the mustachioed guys.

You held a international line?

Usually its because crew scheds made a mistake and coded the trip incorrectly. The correction shows up on the date its made.

The end result is between June 2013 and June 2012, we are -98 Captains and +5 FOs for a net of -93 pilots.

Every base lost positions except for ATL up +63 As and +24 Bs and LAX +1 As and +3 Bs and NYC B +24 Bs. The rest were negative.

As to furloughs, still 203 with no change, -125 fewer on MIL leave, -31 fewer on SIC A and -9 SIC B.
  • The exact number for 2012 was 4,851 As and 5,773 Bs for a total of 10,624.
  • The exact number of 2013 was 4,753 As and 5,778 Bs for a total of 10,531 .

Sailing there isn't a net of 275 Captain positions since the contract was signed. We've lost Captains. The 22D2 report (which I know runs a lower number) is showing a -124 loss of As from August 2013 vs March 2014.
Net was probably a bad choice of terms on my part. The bid results for the bids posted since the contract show about 200 new Captains. The bid out now adds 77 more. Our numbers match up pretty well when you account for the ER program. We lost 196 Captains to the ER program. Still using your numbers can you explain where the massive contractual job loss is?

In other words, you boys were "had". Hardly the results that were implied/stated during the roadshows. My reps told the truth and this is exactly what has happened. The "job loss" is continued stagnation from 5500 and up. My guess is you are well north of that.

Keep in mind that traditionally, the closest you should have been able to get to an ER cockpit was on the jumpseat, let alone hold a line as a new hire. Not being ugly about it, but as an 01 hire, I finally got on the ER in 07. Before that, a person was usually here 10 years or more before being able to hold it. Post BK, things got screwy because of the early outs.

I am saying that relative to the fleet plan the company has done exactly what they said when the contract was signed. The deliveries are coming as planned and now via the new RFP's we may even see a increase beyond what they promised. There is a thread on the DALPA forum where RH discusses these issues and addresses why he believes the company has not hired. The good news is that the fact they did not hire in 2013 has no impact on the total number of pilots they will need down the road. They just have to hire more. There is also not a bit of evidence in the bid monitor reports relative to block hours to show that the work rule changes have cost us any jobs let alone thousands! He also confirms that 200 Captains positions have been awarded since the TA was signed. 77 more on top of that number in this bid if they award them all.
Overall we are on a far more positive trend then at any time in the last 12 years. I think that is good thing. We will see where things are in 3 years. I believe that the doom and gloomers who inhabit this forum and claim we will have fewer pilots and no movement will be proved very wrong. The way many pilots post here you have to believe they truly want the worst to come true.
Time to head out and work on my wheel landings. They have become a bit unpredictable lately!
