I don't buy it. RA doesn't take kindly to being messed with. Penalties or no penalties. I call rumor busted.

In order for your sick time to be "verified," here's what you must provide some pretty personal health info to the company.

Once filled out, you must send it to the company via email. We have no idea who will be reviewing it, or who will have access to it (personal health information).

This is all absolute BULLSH!T. Don't want to give that info? Well, for your 5th sick call each year, they are contractually permitted to demand that info--and more--via your health records directly from your own doctor.

Another HUGE concession, not to mention an egregious breach of privacy.

None of the wording or requirements to "verify" sickness are contractual. I'm curious to see if ALPA allows this nonsense to stand. I'm guessing they won't make a peep.
If it's not contractual to verify sickness then don't do it.

I hope they're not delayed but I've heard several different rumors now that they will be.

And I don't see why it'd bother RA. The planes are coming after summer, they'd get money for it and they'll probably get relief on section 1 since they've already acquired the 76 seaters.

When Obama reads that you wrote that, the IRS is going to audit your [three letter word].

A Tsquare and Carl beer summit?

How many rumors have you heard that have come true? I heard we were going to merge with Alaska three years ago. I heard we were going to merge with Hawaiian a little over 2 years ago. I heard we were going to furlough in 2009. I heard we were going to buy Japan Airlines 747s in 2010. I heard we were going to park all the DC9s immediately over 2 years ago. I recently heard that we were going to buy JetBlue. I've also heard that Boeing was going to buy NATCO and we were selling our 747-400s back to them. I have also heard in 2010 that we were going to park all the 55XX series 757s.

That's 8 rumors I can think of right of that I have heard since we merged. NONE of them have come true.

NWA and Delta merging was a rumor.

The SWA/FL's B717s being acquired by Delta was a rumor.

I agree with you and they better be careful of HIPAA!

One thing I noticed from the form they had in April is they removed the statement that said: "I hereby authorize the medical professional below to release the nature of my illness in general term in compliance with Section 14.F of PWA".

I showed that to my doctor a few months ago and he told me because of HIPAA it is not the company's business unless of course I want to make it their business. So he just gave me a note from his office saying I was seen by him for an appointment on that day.

Another thing he said that rings true is that they entrust us with multi-million dollar aircraft and hundreds of peoples lives, but do not trust us when we call in sick!
