And that sounds suspiciously like the AT was in HOLD mode at idle and autothrottle wakeup didn't occur due to low altitude... |

As as Timbo or someone said, they should of gotten a LOW AIRSPEED eicas message. If that won't get someone's attention - what would!? Apparently being BELOW the seawall on short final did.... |

It does - but for crying out loud (and this isn't directed at you 80, just a convenient post to quote) wasn't one of the 3 pilots in the cockpit monitoring the airspeed?

Sounds a lot like that eastern crash where no one was looking outside, they were looking at a landing gear light

It looks like they weren't looking at anything....particularly their airspeed....
That being said, there a plenty of links in the chain leading to the accident. Fortunately most were saved, who otherwise would have perished as a direct result of the cabin crew, fire fighters, rescuers, and, last but not least, a durable Boeing product. |

Well, put it this way, 3 of 4 90s I flew in the last week had the APU on MEL. I attract those kind of airplanes evidently.
Why can't they get APUs to work like normal jet engines. The main motors don't have that start reliability:( they are only cranked twice as much but fail ten + times more. |
