That is actually one of my greatest fears if the DPA gets put in... which the time for the election process may be upon us shortly (slowplay and alfa can pat themselves on the back for assisting in convincing many to put in DPA cards). I think our constructive engagement at this point is too much in mgmts favor... however, it's a VERY fine line to balance. It probably always will be a bit toward mgmt's favor by the nature of the beast.

I'm afraid if DPA gets voted in, they will go hardline and here we are with UPS/NWA/AA type adversarial relationship. That's the polar opposite with worse results. Granted, UPS guys make freaking craptons of money, but that's because the company prints money year after year. I'm truly amazed at how absolutely miserable their pilot group is. I can deal with making a bit less but having an enjoyable work environment.

Love it. You missed the short 2010 hiring cycle, the first underboob, and then underboob being banned by admins.

Good post and accurate.

All the ALPA guys are Delta pilots first. We might have different ideas on how to get what we want, but at the end of the day our interests are aligned. ALPA has a much better considered strategy, expertise and a big tool box. The DPA, even when well intentioned, lacks depth.

Nearly every one involved in representation at any level started their service work at a lower level and gained experience. I would be more impressed if DPA supporters would humble themselves and serve in some way to gain practical experience before demanding to be made Admiral in a day.

Representation at it's best is service to your pilots. It isn't just beating ALPA. A grudge against ALPA does not move the ball down the field. Further, management is more likely to concede to the force they know than the unproven urge. I don't think the DPA has the ability to get a 99.99% strike vote, which ultimately is the juncture management is motivated to avoid.

So you are exactly right.

Somewhere after the merger don't forget...parking rope start 747's, closing Anchorage base and there's no money in freight....and no money in competing or flying our own iron. Carry on!

Still the same but now you take a City bus to the Cargo area. Go down to the ground transit area and take the very last bus on the right, it'll say Cargo area on the upper front reader board. Make sure to ask the driver which stop for Fedex, as its dark & hard to see as he'll fly right by it unless you request a stop:/. FedEx gouge, if you can't make you flight be sure to call the JS desk & cancel or they can blacklist you for 6 months!
