Since it is an opinion, I'll give you mine as to why I think it unimportant: It will serve no purpose other than to satisfy personal "logic" as to whether or not dALPA is an effective representative. I say it that way because you would have no way of knowing the "why" that things turned out the way they did. It would be like having a picture of a turnip and saying that you know exactly where the earth is in it's orbit. Wouldn't it be better to affect things that you can truly influence rather than continually worry about those that you can't? This kind of attitude keeps us stuck in the mud rather than moving forward, and I am not just picking on you Elvis. Calling others that don't buy into Caplinger's logic gets one called a "cheerleader" or "apologist". His vendetta against all those that don't agree with his desire to torpedo fNWA and now DAL by default is very successful. qoud erat demonstratum.

I don't think I've called anyone a "cheerleader" or "apologist", nor have I used the epithet "donut". TC and DPA aside, I can be critical of our own union's shortcomings. I think honesty and integrity are the most important aspect of any organization, whether a company or a union. I think as scambo has suggested, the survey results would demonstrate how far our contract fell short of expectations. The original reason for not making the results public was that we were in negotiations. We're well past that now. I would have far more respect for our union if they simply showed us the results, and stated perhaps that our initial goals were out of reach for any representative organization. My intent was not to disparage you BTW - I'm opinionated as well and am glad to see a variety of opinions here.

Anyone have a guesstimate of what the projected profit for 2013 would be right now?

Nice jets. I wouldn't mind flying them here.

20% profit sharing kicks in at $2.5 billion, correct? That's an amazing figure for an airline.

It's still a very small ROI, airlines are a disaster waiting to happen from an investors prospective.
FWIW in regards to the survey; the final results (TA) will always fall short of the survey in all areas. The survey is our wish list from which our negotiators negotiate. Personally I'd rather see the Company's wish list, that would be much more entertaining.

Perhaps DALPA intends to use those survey results for 2015 as well?

If that's true then I don't have a problem with that; I would just like them to tell us. But I think the more likely scenario is another survey since opinions change after 3+ years.

BINGO.....I have no doubt that most pilots who were surveyed said they wanted to work Wednesdays only with a min daily credit of 10 hours at a rate of $400 per hour. Honestly, would people really be surprised to see that the resultant Contract fell short of the survey responses?

I mean every year for Christmas I asked for a pony and a life sized robot that would clean my room (later on I would ask for a Playboy Bunny) and somehow I got over my Mom and Dad's failure to properly live up to my survey responses in negotiations with Santa.
