Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Help me with this one. Skymark only flies inside Japan and the Section in the contract applies to 5th freedom flights FROM Japan to NOT Japan. If Skymark only flies inside Japan what's the concern as they don't do 5th freedom flying?
As of January 2013, Skymark Airlines operates scheduled flights to the following destinations:
Amami – Amami Airport (seasonal)
Asahikawa – Asahikawa Airport
Fukuoka – Fukuoka Airport Base
Ibaraki – Ibaraki Airport
Ishigaki - New Ishigaki Airport
Kagoshima – Kagoshima Airport
Kitakyushu – Kitakyushu Airport
Kobe – Kobe Airport Base
Kumamoto – Kumamoto Airport
Nagasaki – Nagasaki Airport
Naha – Naha Airport Base
Sapporo – New Chitose Airport Base
Tokyo
Haneda Airport Base
Narita International Airport Base

Yeah, um, so, like, we're going to fly passengers FROM the US to NRT and put them on a 5th freedom flight on a high density A380 (no airline seems to make money flying these) to mainland China using a codeshare ticket which Delta barely makes money selling? Let's not even mention that the route request for Skymark isn't 5th freedom?
Does anybody on this forum actually know what's in this LOA?

Talked to my Rep and he said that Delta does not have a code share with Skymark, and as far as anyone knows there is no plan for it today. Even if they did, he noted that if they flew outside of Japan and not to the US or a US Territory with our code on it, it is Fifth Freedom Code Share flying and would be part of what would be lost if they go below the hard block hour floor.
He also said that the negotiators are hard at work on a Negotiator's Notepad that may read like a short novel.

You are a 767 captain who is looking to retire in the next 10 years. It's great that you can look forward to being part of the investment class.
But, you should consider that there are a lot of pilots on our list who are looking at making half of what you make during that time and aren't afforded the opportunity to look at the world through investor colored glasses. For them, the best investment they can make is to insure they upgrade to captain as soon as possible and make sure the company or the union does nothing to slow them to that goal.

And it is never to early to invest, and you never make to little. (Jim Cramer did it while living in the back of his car) It is a certainty that even the most junior guy on the property can stick a few dollars into a good growth fund. If he can't he really needs to reconsider his priorities. JMHO

Nope its not. That 380 will compete with us on the JFK route from what I can tell. Doesn't have any bering on this deal one way or another. (Up or down) Their jets that may someday venture outside of Japan are 737's and my Rep noted that 1E 2.A's 40% restriction applies well before the new code share restriction. Its layered from what he told me. I could not get all of the details as he was going to dinner.
We ain't seen anything yet. Just wait until this disaster is fully implemented. If you need proof, look no further than your national politicians who have exempted themselves from it, and the AFL-CIO who is desperately seeking exemptions. 1/3 of the economy, administered by the IRS... great, great plan.
