Not really. I still have no authority for anything. |

I think it is, but I agree with Bar. How can you tell when you sign that you will agree to an extension? The company hopes that some of the people will be deterred from taking a positive step to stop the auto-extension, because they'll be averse to playing the fatigue card.
In reality, an auto-extension is not an extension at all, but a longer scheduled day that bypasses the intent of the rule. The safe way would be to call the participants approaching a previously unforeseen extension, and get everyone's buy-in. By the way, it's preposterous that we both have to sign the release to say we're good to go, but the language on good-to-continue is all about the PIC. If an F/O doesn't agree, he/she has to essentially disagree with the Captain, and again, play the fatigue card. The whole process seems intellectually dishonest to me. |

The FO should not have to play the fatigue card. He should tell the CA that he does not want to extend and the CA should then call the company and decline a extension. The CA should not place that on the copilot or ask him to call in fatigued.

Not to mention a dramatic decline in the number of urgent "absolutely has to get there overnight no matter how much it costs" letters IOW low cost ultra high yield cargo. OTOH, overall volume of general consumer stuff (higher cost lower yield) shipped is up (at the expense of retail) with the internet shopping trend which looks to be a [mostly] permanant paradigm shift. The big threat are the ME carriers who, rocking subsidies from both sides, are planning on doing to the big cargo guys what they are in the process of attempting to do to all the established legacy airlines world wide: take deilvery of mass quantities of widebodies limited only by factory production rates and barf capacity all over anything and everywhere until the competition yields.

DC9 Flying
Anybody know what's going on with the DC9? I understood its last flight is Jan 6, but if you look at the open time a bunch of flying just popped up. They have flights on the 9 until Jan 21. This is recently added open time. Is this simply a place holder to sub out to other equipment or are they keeping it around for a bit longer?

Reserve Greenslip
Guys,
Do we have any pay protection on a reserve GS? For example if you get re-routed and a high time reserve GS turns into a min time 30 layover  do we get the 4:30 ADG? Is there any light at the end of this tunnel? Thanks Scoop |

So, as for improving the travel benefits, unless they are going to upgrade them to giving us some PS passes, I'd rather not waste what capital and leverage we have. Restore my lost pay rates and work rules, and I can afford to buy an actual ticket and never non rev again.
I understand if the benefits are more important to you, I just think we got bigger fish to gut in 2015. |
BTW - Flight of the Intruder is now on Netflix.
