Not true. Have done it twice in two different bases. They even mailed me a prepaid return envelope for the old one.

Did you arrange it through you base's chief pilot office?

I was told had to be done in person. That'd be great if I could have sent to me.

Of course they also could have used an offensive line that kept the front 4 out of Peyton's face too...

That line might not exist. Maybe a mobile quarterback like Kaepernick would have made it more of a game. But, I don't think any offense would have had a chance against the Seahawks on Sunday.

Didn't they go to Paris, too?

What's the final FPL tally and beer tab from that boondoggle?

Sounds pretty cushy to me. Not to mention, a complete waste of our dues money.

You really need to stop listening to TC and start doing research for yourself. Call your rep and get the truth. Better yet, call the DPN and ask them. I'm sure they'd be happy to share details with you. Speaking from personal experience, no one working the NYC op bought a single beer or alcoholic beverage on ALPA $$'s for the entire week. There were no parties, no bar tabs, and no happy hours. No one blocked any elevators until those who didn't want to listen did listen. As a matter of FACT, many of the ALPA volunteers actually called for the elevator and held a door so pilots on their overnight could get to their rooms ASAP.

We offered the material, and the opportunity to talk to us in the lobby at their convenience and only if one desired to do so. And many did. We had 1-2 hour conversations with many pilots. Sitting in a hotel lobby for 8-12 hours per day ain't exactly a peachy time. Personally, I'd rather fly my trip. It'd be a lot more enjoyable. I actually spent more time on the road volunteering for a hotel visit then if I would've flown my trip. So I wasn't actually paid for all of my time on the road.

So maybe get off the rumor train and actually make some calls for facts. BTW, we received a lot of feedback from our pilots about wasting a downtown layover on a short overnight. A personal poll resulted in many stating that they felt 15 hours was the min time required to enjoy a downtown NYC overnight. And guess what the min layo for a downtown NYC layo is now?

If you think it's such a cushy job, then get on the phone and call the DPN or P2P coordinator. They're always looking for volunteers, and people aren't lined out the door. I wonder why, since it's such a cushy job?

Don't kid yourself. There are plenty of cushy gigs for guys who don't like to fly at DALPA.

Says the guy who doesn't do ALPA work.

Be careful out there, and know your Part 117 limitations. Company is still sending pilots out on non-compliant rotations. Saw one last night where a pilot was only given a 9:43 minute layover on the rotation as written before a working leg. Had to call to force them to give him a 10 hr rest.

Ditto.
They assigned me one on reserve that was a 30 in 168 violation.
I called and asked about it and they said "good catch" and took it off my line.

That one is scary since it really requires some good record keeping on the part of the pilot - good catch indeed.

During snowageddon last week I received a text reroute message during a layover that had me reporting earlier than originally scheduled. Problem was, the message came 50 minutes before my new report time - not even remotely legal. Tried to call them and tell them as such but after 45 minutes on hold and two disconnected calls, I gave up.

Yes. Talk to an admin person in you base CPO.
