Not sure if they had stars then but given that he went to Mississippi Valley State I bet many large programs had noticed him.
I think I saw a statistic that showed 40% or so of 5-star recruits make it to the NFL. You'd think it was 80% given the hype. I heard a guy the other day on the radio talk about his HS baseball days whereas a pitcher he led the team to State and was highly recruited and everyone coddled him, went to FSUs big baseball program and found out he needed to work harder, he flaked out. Interesting to listen to and it all boiled down to having a ton of talent doesn't overcome being 18 and stupid.

Have any of you used Widget Log yet? It's a 117 webpage/app that is easy for DAL pilots to import their schedule into. If you haven't tried it yet, give it a shot:
www.widgetlog.com
I've had good luck so far with it.

757 base rate=2.391996 or 143.52 per hour
767ER international 2.428672 or 145.72 per hour
767ER domestic=2.415154 or 144.91 per hour
Night, speed and international pay were the same.
Weight pay was 3 cents per lb per hour. Weights set at 230k for the 57 and 407k for the ER.
Final rates as published in today's contract would be:
757 base 143.72
Hour/speed 13.24
Mileage 13.24
Weight 6.90
Total 177.10
767ERint base 145.72
Hour/speed 13.24
Mileage 13.24
Weight 12.21
Total 184.41
Difference 7.31 per hour
International/nav pay was 6.50 per hour. The L1011 international paid 207.34 per hour. The 767ER never paid close to the L1011
For the new hires the contractual par rates were that convoluted back then. Much easier when they went to one rate.

I'm surprised the icrew mobile folks haven't developed such a mod; they already have access to DBMS. I'd pay another 3-5/month for that capability.
Too much attention put on 18 year old's who haven't done a darn thing.
I think back a couple of years ago to Boise St vs UGA, UGA had all top 10 classes and Boise's were in the 70s. Boise won the game and it wasn't close.
So I'll take coaching > stars.
I think there was a stat that showed there were more high school 2 stars playing in the SB then 4 stars or something.

I am reading the 91 contract as I type this. End contract pay rates.

Current 767 Captain rate is $219.62. For those of you in Rio Linda/Herndon, that is $123 below the buying power of a 767 Captain in 1986. Or, put another way, it's a 36% pay cut from 1986 buying power.
Another interesting note: 2004 (C2K) 767 Captain rate was $267.52. Adjusted for inflation to today, that would be $335.92. Current contract 767 Captain rate is a 35% pay cut from 2004 (C2K) buying power.
I'm waiting for 330A to get down to my seniority range.

I like your 500 senior captain retirements. Would you show where you found that info?
Here is what is on our ALPA website.
2014 108
2015 173
2016 230
Total 511
More than 60% cannot hold the ER as a captain.
For example, in 2014 of the 108 retirements 36 are holding captain on the ER or higher.
Take a moment to think about what you wrote.
We have little to no retirements ER captain and above. We are parking (according to your post) 63 757s ad 9 to 12 767s.
We have 500 pilot retirements over the period we are parking the 757's. Most are 767 or more senior Captains. We are going to add about 120 A330 Captains over that same period. We will lose about 70 airframes staffed at domestic rates or about 490 Captains. Assuming not a single pilot goes out sick or retires early we still easily cover the loss of those airframes. The really good news is that that allows all the 737-900 airframes to be staffed with upgrades.
Again I don't see any large displacements and yes I have thought about it.
If you were a junior ER captain why would you bid off to a lower paying aircraft? Not to mention a crappier aircraft?
He will more then likely not have to given the current fleet plan. He will move up not down.
Zero displacements is a management fantasy dream.
It's also fairly simple math.
