With that change, this was also added:

"As close as possible" is a very high standard. Does anybody really think that it's being met?

Well........In my vast 25.3 hrs of experience, they seem to be doing okay. Just little things here and there. It has some quirks because it is such an electric jet (minus flt controls) but I suppose like any new type they are learning and adapting. One thing I noticed was every time I came through ATL, mechanic met the jet just to check on the plane. Coming off International I don't know if this is standard domestically.
Now back in the day when they were new I understand there were a lot of bugs to work out but AT got the pleasure of working those out. Maybe someone with more line experience can chime in for a more practical view. Fun to fly though!

I'm loving the 717. Great screens, Airbus box, uploads the flight plan and awabs, nails the descent profile even with big tailwinds, smooth autothrottles, more power than you can use... oh, wait a minute...did I mention the trips suck? 5 to 7 legs a day. 18hr days - Everyday. New hires trying to kill you in the rt seat. Cramped and I mean really tight cockpit. Miserable seats. Wretched coffee. What else? Tabs and pulleys. I don't think you'd be happy on it (if your senior).

That guy works at AirTran, I know him.

But with 100 purple herb turds, and Spirit, and Frontier sitting on the ramp every morning, methinks the yield down here ain't all that great. I could be wrong though....
My point with this is you have to be able to compete and win your share of pax in massive markets, many (most?) of which tend to be lower yield precicely because they are high volume. And we absolutely can't become mired in the quagmire (giggity) of route by route profitability with no other concern. If we did that, any competitor could poach any route they wanted from us whenever they wanted just by fare trashing/capacity dumping and we would be bound to reduce service or eliminate the market entirely. Once they figured out it was that easy, anyone could (and would) simply snipe every single market we have by making them "unprofitable" one at a time sending us scurrying away. Sometimes you have to take a loss now to make a profit later.

I'm not saying you don't know that, but the jury is still out regarding if our entire marketing department gets that concept. Capacity dicipline is a buzzword that will soon be tossed into the dust bin of airline history. We are about to face massive domestic and international fare trashing and capacity dumping. A relentless emphasis on short to medium term route by route profitability will destroy us on our competitor's terms.

It'll be interesting to see the rest of the stuff loaded in the coming days/weeks. The 717 will apparently waste no time being spread out a bit.
That's definately the 717? Interesting if true. Is that a new route or a current RJ/AS-code share route?
