Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Yes, I understand the contract 'costs' the company more- that cost debatable depending on how you value it, (including 401k, medical plan valuation, higher sick pay *if you can use it, etc), but my personal situation is such that working the same hours, no overtime (GS) during those years, on the same jet, no longevity raises, my W2 is still less than it was in 2011. So my situation is such that I haven't seen any raises. I have to wonder how much of the compensation "increase" mentioned by shiznit is due to a longevity raise, upgrade to a higher paying category and overtime flying. Not asking for a spreadsheet, but just saying. Because for me, all things being equal, I'm not taking home more money at the end of the day.
Now, could I bid a higher paying seat and make more? Sure I could, with some commuting and associated loss of QOL. But to my point here, is that a raise? Not really, that's a promotion. A raise is getting paid more to do the same job.
Forget bus driver school, find a shop class. Any wonder why there aren't enough pilots?
Josh Mandel: Welders Make $150,000? Bring Back Shop Class - WSJ.com
"A good trade to consider: welding. I recently visited Pioneer Pipe in the Utica and Marcellus shale area of Ohio and learned that last year the company paid 60 of its welders more than $150,000 and two of its welders over $200,000. The owner, Dave Archer, said he has had to turn down orders because he can't find enough skilled welders."

My wife learned to weld at BCC a few years back. That's my backup plan.

Awesome. What's with all those United jets trying to pile up at 1N?
Just want to say thanks to L&G lurker and my 330 classmate who sat seat support for me yesterday, you know who you are bro! I'm beat up, bruised and severely embarrassed. But, I'll freely admit it could have been worse.....beers on me next time our paths cross!!
