Agreed. I guess the question then is whether an exception to a rule is put there to "screw" some number of pilots or as a deliberate and/or logical circumstance under which the rule would not apply.

As an example, it was explained to me in C2K that the circumstance outside the control of the Company exception was a deliberate part of the overall negotiation in which we went from unlimited reroutes with no premium pay so long as you did not touch your base, to the system we have now where you can go through your base but you get reroute pay if the Company chooses to keep you out longer than originally scheduled.

Not intended to screw anyone, but rather to provide a financial disincentive for the Company to keep you out longer than necessary. If your airport is closed, then there is no physical way to get you back, and no amount of reroute pay will change that.

I had almost 9 years at a regional and I never flew a stand up. They ALWAYS went senior.

What's the word on the 12 hour long call?

Don't get me wrong, I do not want to see a change in union representation so close to section 6 negotiations---I'd just like to see our union reps man-up, the way they did not so many years ago.
With respects
DPA is dead. Even if they were voted in, they would not perform any better. This idea needs to go away. It is hurting all of us.

If you were at ASA then you would also note that you had line of time bidding. The lines were pure nap lines. You only had to fly 30 hours and still got paid a 75 hour guarantee. Plus you got extra for underblock on top of guarantee. It is a totally different scenario with PBS. Training always screws up my PBS bid so I can only imagine what a CDO would do.

For throwing the reserve pilots under the bus? No. Don't get me wrong, 5:15 ADG would be great, but changing the contractual 9 hour leash to 3 would be a major concession IMHO.

Yep. They do go senior. The allure of being home all day, every day, is pretty strong. And some are willing to compromise safety in order to do it.

"Stand ups" have always been a way to get around the FAR rest requirements. Nobody sleeps during the day and then stays up all night during a stand up. The reality of it is that the flight is done late at night with a crew that has been up all day and is nearing the point where they should call it a day and go to bed. And then the flight the next morning is done by that same crew after they got maybe 5 hours of sleep. It's unsafe. They should have fixed this loophole in FAR 117. If DALPA allows this to be added to our contract, there's no way they can tout a motto like "schedule with safety" with a straight face.

"SCHEDULE WITH SAFETY"*

* except for stand-ups. Because 10 hours of rest should be an absolute minimum, unless it shouldn't be, because some guys want to be "productive."

CDOs? How about this: Turn it down and let the company see what it's like to feel the pilots' exercising their rights under the PWA.

Word is the CDOs are going to be for premium pay.

There's also some new language offering even more pay if the pilot is willing to be flexible regarding the hotel. Big bonus if you're open to doing your lean-over
