If you are senior enough to hold SDT/CDO reserve, and you live in base, you will forget you even work for the company. I did it a few years ago, flew 15 hours the whole year.

We all default to long call reserve at DL. There's no such thing as CDO rsv. Completely different contract.

You idea about other bases flying it is great. It would have to be at least a "real" 4 day for it to work which means it will pay much better then it does now. Problem is we have no control as to how they schedule it and who fly's it.
Actually I am not OK with your LAX-GUA-LAX 3-days that only pay 10+30. That is one thing we need to fix. However, we used to have such entities all over the sytem and fixed that with the ADG (which as you know doesn't apply to trips that check in after 2200). The ATL to UIO trip used to always pay 10.50, now it pays 13.30. I suppose I am trying to say that at least some, if not most of our trips have at least the Average Daily Guarantee in them. We need to finish the process and have it so that it pays for all trips, regardless of sign in. But, if we were to secure that system-wide, don't be surprised to never see your LAX-GUA redeye again, as it will most likely be flown by different bases.

And now UIO will pay 15:45.

I thought under 117, you have to be kept on CDO/SDT reserve/trips to work consecutive SDT trips. I think if you were going to offer SDT's, you would also have to allow a SDT type reserve system. Otherwise, you burn through reserves to quickly.

Okay, change of topic for a moment. I'm using the OGT passes and I know they can be upgraded and that the upgrade is based on check in time for the flight so you want to do it asap. My question is.............How do you get on the upgrade list? Do you do that with a gate agent when you actually get to the airport or can you do it online?

Denny

Edit: Think I answered my own question. Checked the airport standby list and it looks like you are automatically put on the PSUP list when you check in.

Do you think UPS/FedEx pilots are sleeping 8 hours during the days then flying all night? What about the Delta guys who fly ANC-ATL? It is all their jobs to show up rested. If we think they don't, then we need to petition the FAA to prohibit all back-side-of-the-clock flying, right?

How can something that's an FAR be itself a way to get around the FAR?

If they reduce overall credit time, they would reduce staffing. But we don't know the specifics of how they'll pay, or what else is part of the overall deal.

Under FAR 117, the time you spend in the hotel does not count toward the FDP limit. So, you can be on a split duty period for up to 14 hours, so long as you get at least a 3-hour "sleep opportunity" and so long as the total time spent on the split duty period, minus the time spent in the sleep opportunity, does not exceed your normal FDP limit.
