Has there been any effort either through grievance or litigation to change the current Compass representation structure?

ACL, the stove is hot. Don't touch it.

Hey, I know you're not afraid. Dang, sorry you burned yourself.

You're implying that one of the Compass guys (****ed off ex-ATA guys I mentioned) did file a grievance (yeah I heard that) or sued DALPA (never heard that). OK - so why did nobody outside ALPA leadership hear that?? This was a vote undertaken without ANY education of or input from the membership, including the Compass guys it affects most. In fact EC (CPZ coordinator) wanted to put out a letter to the CPZ guys a few weeks ago regarding the pros and cons of our own MEC, and seeking input from our membership. Guess what, that's exactly what Moak should have been doing with his own membership, but he did not, and furthermore he stopped our coordinator from sending out the letter.

If I thought Moak was going to in power at DALPA for a lot longer I'd be happy to be on our own because almost every move he's made since we became part of DALPA makes me respect him less and less. However, I think this 13-12 vote demonstrates how precarious his position is, and things might change in a big way after the LEC elections.

Does anyone think we could just go to management and ask them to merge? They would laugh in your face. Their first question would "what will you give up for this?" If your answer is "nothing" then end of conversation. People need to come back to Earth on this subject. The current setup is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I cannot believe 12 MEC members were too dumb to realize this. Once more, who merges companies?
Alpha, I think I get your point. I'll try to elaborate and you can agree, or disagree.

Compass can be used to grease the skids for a number of corporate transactions which help Delta to manage DCI obligations. Compass jets could be exchanged for 50 seaters at an existing operator, used to whipsaw other DCI pilot groups, or simply sold. Any of these scenarios would have us in an ugly fight to protect "Delta pilots."

You have not told us, but my guess is that your crystal ball includes such threats that could potentially be problematic. The litigation threat isn't the Representation, but what we do with that representational obligation. Better yet to focus our energies elsewhere.

But Mr. Vice President Cheney, ACL's constituency might like what they see him cooking up

Further, if the thing ends up smelling like sulfur, ACL was no where near the cracking of the eggs used in that omelette.

That is a rational explination on many levels.

Slow, no lawsuit that the rank and file had been made aware of.
Insee that you are warning me? Should I take that as a threat?

I know what you mean. It's very annoying. Don't what's going on but I wish someone would fix it.

Nah, I think he means to be helpful. As do we scope hawks. We simply disagree about how to achieve a goal we mutually share.

I can agree with that. Many good things have happened. As our chair states we just disagree on 5% of the issues. They are the big ones though. I look at the other side of the issue to see why they see ut one way or another. I respect a difference of opinion. With an issue like this as divided a it is it is smart to wait and educate the group on the facts.
