Poor response to the NFL openings. Only 26 pilots opted not to fly. That is almost 400 pilots short of the posted openings. Ughhhh. I was hoping more guys wanted some time off.

Well I am sure the next step might get ugly, we shall see what they do. Hope for SIL's. I would even take one of those.

Chairman's Letter

Just got the letter outlining the latest MEC meeting. He spent a page and a half talking about the Compass representational issue and a page about the Senators who attended and slipped a little paragraph in about LOAs 18 & 19.

I think the communication is what we were asking for, but without any of the background information about the NFL or the "best FOQA program in the industry", I can't really say for sure if they were really looking out for our best interests. No matter what though, it was pretty timely and hopefully a sign that they understand the masses would like to not be mushroomed.

Oh I think that we are being heard. I really do. Lee has changed some of what he says and that is good. We got pictures of the MEC meeting on the web very quickly. To me that was a change. Nothing note worthy, but we got to see that they do wear snazzy ties :D. I see that as huge guys. Just me though.

Perfection is great but normally life is about progress not perfection, and I see the effort. It does not go unnoticed. So on that level I give them a well deserved thanks.

I have talked to a lot of DALN guys who wish they had taken the last PERP or PRIP whatever it is called. Does anyone think we will see another one in the near future.

That depends. IMHO if we cut next summers sked and do not need bodies, then yes, if we need them, then no. Just my .02 In the end it is up to the company and whatever the Union agrees to.

You have?

Tell them the objective of playing hard-to-get is not winning. Now we're as stuck with them as they are with us.

If they want to try something, challenge them to hold their breath for another round of PRIP. Maybe they win at that game too?

What does that mean?

Simple question and one I do not know the answer too. Did you communications chair do the updates himself or was it delegated? Either way did the person responsible fly the line normally.
Ours does as far as I can tell, and does these updates on the overnights. He is flying today and hopes to have it out shortly.

I really do not know the answer, and I am just guessing.

I would assume everything goes though the lawyers. I mean my god there are people that would sue DALPA, and this web board is proof that all publications are avail for public consumption. Therefore I understand some of the paranoia.

The Communication Chair was usually on FPL for the MEC meetings at FNWA.
He would issue an update via email every evening unless the entire session for that day was CLOSED for confidentiality.

The LEC reps would often issue their own updates via email to their councils.

My understanding is that LM wont even allow an elected LEC rep to talk to a committee chairman without going through LM first...

F-word.

In regards to the chairman's letter- I too found this a step in the right direction. We absolutely aren't there yet (look at the magenta line stuff the CAL guys put out as one example), but I think we are slowly being heard.

Keep it going! Talk to the guys you fly with on trips...make sure they are educated on who stands for what....and who doesn't.
