The new 90 at 160 seats will be the same as the 737-800 and much more than the -700 which both pay more than the 90/88. Why can't we get one of those MOU thingies the MEC is so fond of to cover this? |
Sorry.

Higher pay on the 88/90 after we add seats but you guys need to give up some scope. Come on, think about it.... think about it... more coin... come on... more money for the slumdogs... sign that LOA.... right there... more money... don't read it... just sign. Sign. sign. Sign.
The cool thing is the DC-9-30 will now have 150 seats too thanks to extra room they found in the tailcone. What a waste not using that tailcone. Hey Beer or ACL, in the new 88 with 150 seats are they going to match the 90s layout with 2 seats on the left and 3 seats on the right or are we keeping the current 88 configuration? I just wonder next time I periscope the gear will have to fit my big fat head under a seat? |

There is your answer. Wasn't there a Chester L. Carass that advertised in Sky (and other magazines) for negotiation seminars? His slogan was: "In life, you don't get what you diserve. You get what you negotiate". |
Oct 13 (Yahoo) Oil prices neared new highs for the year Tuesday as the dollar slipped against other major currencies, demonstrating how much the weakened U.S. currency can affect consumers globally.
The U.S. dollar index, where the U.S. currency is measured against other major currencies, hit a 14-month low Tuesday. Because crude is bought and sold in dollars, it essentially becomes cheaper for international investors who have flooded into energy markets despite a big surplus of oil. Oct. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Crude oil rose to a seven-week high in New York on speculation world demand will grow as the economy rebounds and as a weaker dollar spurs demand for commodities. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries increased its 2010 global oil-consumption forecast by 200,000 barrels a day on expansion in emerging economies. Oil gained as much as 1.6 percent and gold climbed to a record as the dollar dropped to the lowest level against the euro since before the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. “Prices are higher in anticipation of higher demand,” said Michael Lynch, president of Strategic Energy & Economic Research in Winchester, Massachusetts. “We have yet to see demand recover, but as long as there are upward revisions of future demand, there will support for prices.” So if the United States doesn't get to partcipate in a global rebound but a global rebound causes oil to go higher, what does that mean for the airline industry? Weak domestic demand with increasing fuel prices that therein cause even weaker demand? Ouch. |

[quote=johnso29;693431much of our pilot surplus is due to DAL-S hiring for an international expansion which NEVER happened! [/quote]
I was hired into the ER mid March 08. Our last class was in early May 08. I was busy all summer and during the holiday season last year. We hired for an international expansion that DID happen! I got displaced from the ER not because the ER flying was pulled back but because the domestic 757 flying was, which lead to a domino effect. Not being bitter - just pointing out that the DL south side hired based on the reality of the time. Times have indeed changed but to say that we hired for an unrealized international expansion is not accurate. |
There will always be those who throw fear grenades. Everymonth that goes by means that its less and less likely we'll furlough anytime soon. Since they waited so long, there are more reasons to not furlough than there are to furlough now.
