Hey TSquare or any other LCA,
Got a question for you guys. What is the protocol now for getting replaced by a guy doing OE? Do I still have to show up at sign in, or can the LCA release me a day prior or so? I know we aren't subject to 23K anymore, and can pick up additional flying. JUst wondering if I have to drag it to NYC for an 0500 show.

The section is 23 G 5 from the PWA. I argued the point that the LCA can actually release you since this is how it is written:
5. An LCP may remove a First Officer from a rotation or any portion thereof for the purpose of conducting OE.
I was in the exact same situation where the sign in was early in the morning and crew scheds wasn't releasing you unitl 7pm the night before. I had called the LCA and he said I could be released because he had already contacted the pilot getting the IOE and he was already in position. The company and the union said that they had a verbal agreement to do the 7pm release the night prior.
Fast forward a couple of months and I had another IOE trip being bought, however the LCA wanted the FO that was being released to show up planeside and he would release him. He said that the FO was being paid anyway so he at least had to show up. This lead back to the last conversation about scheduling doing the releasing. The LCA wasn't happy but I was released. (just so you know we only had one LCA in NYC on the ER that wanted you to come planeside)

Any ipad air users out there? I figured out how to load the manuals from the fleet page by opening them, copying, then moving it to ibooks. The only one that I can't get to download is the FOM Pt.1. It will open after putting in the security password, and doing what I did with all the other manuals, it doesn't work. Any ideas? Doesn't sound like the secure content locker is an option for the Air either for a while.
Can anyone point to the section of the contract that talks about how a GSWC gets paid?
Baja.
BTW - HOW do you sign up for Blasts? Am I the only person who can never navigate the ALPA webpages?

So technicaly speaking, sometimes you can put them wherever you want. Its fairly common especially for days earned towards the end of the month where there is no place to put them that month.

Does anyone know of hotels near EWR that give crew rates?
GSWC
A pilot will be removed from a rotation(s) on his regular line that conflicts with a GSWC rotation(s). Such pilot will receive:
a. single pay and credit for the removed rotation(s), and
b. single pay, no credit for the GSWC rotation(s) flown.
The Scheduling Reference Handbook on the Dalpa website also has some good info starting on page 51.
