It's rumored the company paid the state taxes for a bunch of guys or the training department would have shut down.

GA takes out taxes on the income you get when you go through initial training. They make you fill out a GA W-4 in indoc and if you want the GA taxes back, you have to file a GA return.

Some got nailed because their kids were attending public school locally while they claimed a no-income tax state

I was just talking about the guys who honestly lived in FL. The bad thing was they got a double whammy. They had to pay GA income taxes and the high FL property taxes.
The ones with kids ect. Were simply lying about where they lived. As mentioned some lost jobs after criminal convictions.

Too bad you missed the ordained minister scam in the 70's. (House was a church.) A couple of the MIA boys spent some time at camp..

I recall the online Doctorate in Divinity courses ... for a while everyone in the office had divinity degrees "The Right Reverend, Dr., Joey Bagodoughnuts." The online coursework was $25 if I recall. The diploma came in the mail.

There are practically no issues that I would ever agree with Sailing.

However, on this he is correct: Get professional tax help.

Sure, you can try to beat the odds, but if you do, be sure you can survive the odds beating you.

Come on Sailingfun. This sentence only has four words in it and you misspelled one. Can't you do better than 25%?

I have a question. I swapped a trip earlier in the month that took me over the ALV. I didn't think you could swap/pick up over the ALV. Then I dropped a trip, and then tried to pick up a trip that is exactly the same length, to the minute, but it denied it saying that it would take me above the max pick up. Are you able to swap and take yourself above the max pickup?

As my accountant once told me "It is your duty to avoid taxes but illegal to evade taxes"

Just go buy a small "working" farm and 5 cows. That's the best tax deal going right now.
