Delta does not have temporary basing for pilots. That means you can't deduct commuting expenses.

Just had this discussion with my accountant earlier this week and the 1 year part is almost verbatim what he told me. Including indoc, I will be commuting for about 8 months this first year so I am tracking my expenses to claim in 2014 and 2015.

You can deduct anything you want on your 2014+2015 tax filings.

The audit you may receive will determine whether or not those deductions were allowable.;)

There's a long history between transportation workers and the IRS. Some of that history involving NWA and DAL pilots has been recounted here. You might want to find an accountant that has some experience in those areas. Good luck.

New guy pot swap question. I am trying to swap with another trip with the same number of days. CS said it won't process because there is no reserve coverage for the trip I am trying to drop. However, there is none for the trip I am trying to pick up with either. Hell, there is no blue coverage for any day in the entire month! Does this mean there is no way to swap for my original trip?

You can drop your trip via the pilot to pilot swap board then whiteslip the trip you want.

I have a long overnight at the Atlanta Sheraton tomorrow. Any recommendations for hookers and maybe some Taco Bell?

Could stay in and watch a movie. Do you know why pilots like to watch their porn backwards?

They like the part where the girl gives the guy the money.

If the professionals outside a Taco Bell in downtown Atlanta are not good for tax advice, what are they good for?

Never seen a hooker and a good tax attorney working the same corner ... I think it is a professional courtesy.

That prompts this hypothetical:

If I'm on a layover at a strip club with my company tablet device getting a private dance, is there any way the company could somehow access the video I'm taking and then send it to my wife?

She wanted me to ask.

I can understand how that would be a major concern. ALPA sucks!:D

I dunno, but the Surface 2 has a two position kick stand. Figure that's gotta be handy ...
