I wish we had a daily MINIMUM of 6:00, for everything, training, vacation, CQ CD watching, etc., not a daily AVERAGE of only 5:15.
I read it that his complaint was, no commutable trips, due to early sign in, late release, due to cramming 8+ hours into day 1 and day 3, to get near the average of 5:15.

I love it when people complain about Obama Care and don't even understand what it is. While I may not agree with the whole "act", I think it is important that people at least understand what it is and how it works. All of us will be buying our health care insurance that way within 5 years anyways so you just as well get to know what we've got.
You have just as much chance of getting shuffled around on UHC insurance through Delta as someone does who purchases insurance through an exchange. No one is "on" the affordable care ac,t they buy insurance through an exchange. In fact, in some states people "on" the affordable care act have access to the exact same plans we do from UHC, they just pay more in premiums. So, they have no more chance of being denied coverage than you or I do.
In my area I can purchase a BCBS HSA plan from the exchange that is almost identical to what Delta is offering in the Silver HSA plan for 2015. Delta will charge me about $200/mo while on the exchange the plan costs about $750. Right now that is not very "affordable" unless I become unemployed and don't have access to an employer provided plan. If I had to pay COBRA premiums to keep my Delta UHC plan I would be just over $1000 an month so at that point it is a more affordable option to get health care coverage for my family.
At the end of the day, either way I get my health insurance it is provided by a private insurance company. As long as I "choose" the plan that has the coverage I need, I should not get denied coverage if I get Ebola whether I have UHC insurance through Delta or through an Exchange.

Absolutely. It is a huge, huge improvement for QOL in LAX on the 73N- but we pretty much had the worse bid package in the system so pretty much anything was going to help us.

A couple of years ago I analyzed our bid package. 1/3 of our bid package were 4 day red-eyes that paid between 17 and 20 hours. Granted that was the worse month that I had seen, but you get the point. The guys near the bottom that were working 16 days for between 68-72 hours now will get at least 84 for the same flying!

Our Government is playing Russian Roulette with the safety of the American people. If this kicks off here it will be like Lord of the Flies in some places.
PS, I have to admit I had to look up who Katniss Everdeen was....

I doubt that is how it would go down. Something tells me that the socialists wouldn't allow someone in the top 10% of all wage earners (5%???) like us to stop working and to go onto the exchanges and pay the same as octomom. I just don't see that happening at all.
I'm not going to post the trip but for example, day one is 8:30 block, day 2 is 31 hours off in random city, day three is 7:41. Day one and three are NIGHTMARE's and you get a day off away from home with ZERO compensation for it. pay's 16:11, regardless of 430 or 515.
If that were a 2 day trip that paid 16:11, I would be much more excited about it.
It is that way right now with insurance provided through your employer. If you choose the lowest deductible plans in most employer sponsored plans you will find that not all hospitals may accept the insurance. UHC at Delta is good in that regard and most hospitals accept UHC. Not all employers are that way. If you have access to UHC plans on the exchange in your state, you will have access to the same hospitals that you do in your Delta sponsored plan. If you want to find the cheapest plan available to you via the exchange, you will find limited options.
I don't like the way the affordable care act was pushed on us any more than the next guy, but the reality of the situation is that it is now law and the chances of it being repealed are basically nil. All of us will purchase healthcare on the exchanges within 5 years so you better have it figured out. Right now in my state if Delta would give me $700 per month to buy health insurance from an exchange, I would be no worse off going with an HSA option available via the exchange.
