Something to think about with LBP for back half of the seniority list.
I personally have camped out on heavy international for the past 6 years although I could hold narrowbody captain. I plan to stay at least 3 or 4 more years until I can upgrade to 737 or 767 captain. The difference in money to upgrade to narrowbody captain today is not significant and my QOL is better as a heavy international f/o. If we go to LBP, senior f/o's will make less and junior captains will make more. That will be enough motivation for me to upgrade. I will make more but take a personal hit to QOL. Pilots junior to me will be delayed from upgrading to captain, because I'll be taking the seat before I would have under the current system. The unintended consequence may be less choice. |

I don't think is any "may" about it. The seniority list will flatten out and the ability to delay upgrade for QOL will be reduced. Just as the ability of those who choose the quick upgrade will be reduced.

No kidding. With a teenager boy, and three pre teens (triplets,) at home, I come to work to get rest and sleep.

I'm out of the US and away from all that crappy news. *CNN International is reporting that the World Health Organization has just declared Senegal to be ebola free. Apparently, they had a few cases, contained them, and haven't had another one in 42 days.
If they can do it, why can't we expect the same? I don't anticipate any Lord of the Flies situations in the U.S. * Are they even reporting this over there? |

Wait, what? Reading this it looks like you're saying, "Every 7 days, we need to have 30 to 32 days off at home." I like where you're going with this, but don't think that's what you meant to say.

I love that first night on a thirty hour layover. The excitement of knowing I can sleep in is like Christmas all over again. Then I screw it up, stay up too late, inexplicably wake up on time and am grumpy all day.

No. They're not reporting it. Today's big news is the new "Ebola czar." Sheesh.

Does anyone know the answer to this? I'm near the white slip maximum pickup, but would like to buy a 4 day with my bank days. Does this make more room for white slipping?
