I feel most of the Union talk (DALPA v. DPA) stuff has gotten much uglier than the political stuff that has ever come up on this thread. It's nice to see differening opinions from people who respect each other as individuals. We could use a lot more of that in Washington, however logic, reason, and patience never sold a candidate as well as emotion and radicalism.

All that being said, I don't think Delta management is irresponsible enough to go out out there in support of a political agenda purely on a basis of intersperonal, corporate belief. Point being, I think we came out publicly for three main reasons....
1.) South America is the second fastest growing market
2.) The US has a large, and growing, Latino population
3.) The immigration reform could be a move against human trafficking, an issue we have worked against as an organization

Just my opinion.

What? This doesn't have anything to do with politics. Let's be honest. Are you not better off now than you were in 2008? There is not one person I know that isn't. Not one.
I guess you don't know too many vets who served post-9/11 or my cousins in CA who are both unemployed and definitely worse off. We see what we want to see, I suppose. Trillions more in debt, millions more on the public dime, so while you, me, and your well to do buds are doing better you should take a look around and realize it's been pretty bad out there for far too long. And the retirees I know are getting hit pretty hard as well. My dad's prescription costs (for the same drug) are up over 150% with O-care, and his plan has been extended for two years (one year left) after which he expects thousands more in additional costs. And to think the reason the guy I flew with back in '08 was voting for O was because he wanted better/cheaper healthcare. Bet he feels like a sucker.

Wow.
You must not have a very diverse group of acquaintances economically.

For starters, how about part time workers who were let go thanks to the Obamacare requirement that their employers provide health insurance (or higher cost health insurance than they had in place, to comply with new policy requirements)? Are they better off?

At least they had, what, 99 weeks of unemployment benefits. And those who have left the work force no longer count against the gub'ment's unemployment numbers...

So, have we concluded that politics are a good way to improve the L&G, or is this the typical pattern where we sneak a few comments in, ratchet up the butt-hurt, and walk-away feeling unsatisfied?

You can't have a true political discussion, if you're not willing to lay out a premise, and truly read the other person's posts. That takes a lot of effort, and there are forums for it. On the L&G, there is only time to sneak in a few soundbites, before the whole thing has to stop. How can that be truly satisfying?

I disagree. BO knows exactly what he is doing. He wants to diminish the importance of the US, spread our wealth around the world, transfer wealth from the rich to the poor, and move the country toward socialism. I believe he would consider his presidency to be a huge success.
