Yes.

Carl

You sure about that Carl?

Is that fact or opinion? Without posting some numbers here, you are just talking out of your rear, just like you like to accuse Sailingfun of doing.

Jumpseat question.....

Going to Myrtle Beach for a few days of golf. Loads look tight. Flying on our own equipment (717).

Can I get my jump seat pass at the ticket counter and check my bags like a regular nonrev?

Thanks

Yes you can. Make a reservation as soon as the personal use window allows.

That is unknown at this time. Delta's intent is obviously to make money on this transaction; that money would trickle down into increased profit sharing checks.

OTOH, no one can predict whether this will increase/decrease our own flying. I suspect it will ultimately increase it as it builds a stronger company. Others only look at it one dimensionally and assume big, bad, Delta is gonna transfer all our flying to VA. I respectfully disagree.

Um....the way the agreement is written I don't see how our flying can increase on a percentage basis. Maybe I don't have all the info, but it looks to me like we have nowhere to go but down from the current 73% level we are at.

Do you seriously think we should agree to a TA that reduces our widebody flying in hopes that we see "trickle" down increases in our profit sharing??

It seems like every JV we sign is a broken record, the contract language isn't there so lets settle for less flying than we do now in order to put a floor on it.

Exactly.

Front End Deadhead

I have a quick question about a front end deadhead-- I have one scheduled and would like to deviate to avoid having to go all the way to ATL (my base) to get to ORD-- it is a much shorter trip to go via MSP-- here's my ? Can I book two positive space legs via MSP when the original DH is only one leg or even better yet can I JS on another airline that is a nonstop placing the "risk" on me? The FOM doesn't seem to spell it out very well?

One jumpseat for one jumpseat. But, you could deviate and just show up for work out of ORD with a different airline. When you TELL scheduling you are deviating (if you are a line holder) make sure they do not cancel the room reservation too.

New hire here.

I have my CQ training in January and looking for some ideas on how to bid the rest of my schedule.

I'm not totally up-to-speed on how the Raw Scores work, but is it common for guys to bid reserve during their training month. I'm on the 73 and if I bid reserve I would be fairly high on the list for reserve guys.

Thanks!

MCFlyer

It is fairly common to bid reserve when training, especially in a low ALV month. Check the link on the PBS Info page under Calculators. This will tell you how many X days you will have, how many reserve days you will have and what your pay for the month will be. Use that to help with your decision. FWIW, I always bid reserve when I have training or vacation in a month. Being senior on reserve wil allow you to pick the days you want off.

Bank of America sees $50 oil as Opec dies - Telegraph

The Opec oil cartel no longer exists in any meaningful sense and crude prices will slump to $50 a barrel over the coming months as market forces shake out the weakest producers, Bank of America has warned.

Revolutionary changes sweeping the world’s energy industry will drive down the price of liquefied natural gas (LNG), creating a “multi-year” glut and a much cheaper source of gas for Europe.

Francisco Blanch, the bank’s commodity chief, said Opec is “effectively dissolved” after it failed to stabilize prices at its last meeting. “The consequences are profound and long-lasting,“ he said.

The free market will now set the global cost of oil, leading to a new era of wild price swings and disorderly trading that benefits only the Mid-East petro-states with deepest pockets such as Saudi Arabia. If so, the weaker peripheral members such as Venezuela and Nigeria are being thrown to the wolves.
So... $50bb means what for us?

Does Lagos drop in value? RJs get a second life? Economy booms? We profit like mad? We expand the 88 fleet? Ticket price wars? New entrants to the airline industry?
