No joke! I can see a few busted screens in the future from that. I have found that if you set the suction cups while at cruise altitude, that sucker isn't going anywhere when you start down. Just gotta leave it attached from then on. Every time I've had to attach the mount at the gate, it has been loosey goosey by the time I get to cruise.
I'm yet to talk anyone into licking it for better suction, but I remain determined. :D |

I never really understood why (besides the 717 incident) we have to have mounts for them anyhow. They aren't plugged in anywhere and they weigh a lot less than a jepp manual that finds it's way everywhere on the flight deck. Having them handy is the only reason I can see, but the window mounts seem like overkill.

I thought the same thing. Why have we not had to mount the 10lb Jepp manuals the last 40 years? On the 320 everyone has that dang manual on the tray table all the time. Why can't we just sit the tablet on the table?

That would seem like a great idea, especially in the Airbus. I guess we just let the FAA tell us what to do and don't complain. Doesn't JetBlue have laptops that they use on the tray tables?

On Frontier they have the option using a velcro strap to secure their tablets to the table. I've heard that after we complete the FAA verification Delta will pursue more options.
