I don't think I'm "that guy," but I suppose "that guy" never thinks he's "that guy," so who knows. I just know the incident really floored me when it happened - enough that I dropped off APC for six months - and I thought coming back merited letting him know what I thought of his bullying. Guess I just need to know when to let sleeping dogs lie...

Default Soon to be commuter:(

I'm relocating from NJ to NW Arkansas at the end of Jan. If anyone here commutes out of XNA to ATL or NYC I'd be interested to hear about it.

Yeah, I initially got it from this thread, and then a Council 1 friend emailed it to me. It's my understanding that 66 and 20 are giving it out to members that ask for it.

By the way, best places I've found near long DTW hotel for a brew:

Jacoby's (both German beers & craft beers)
Foran's Grand Trunk Pub (fantastic selection of craft beers on tap)

Foran's is closer, Jacoby's is maybe 4 or 5 blocks away.

You've got FSM to use for NW Ark commutes, too. Not sure if Delta flies direct to NYC, but some carriers do (for the Walmart/Tyson's corporate crowd).

It's a tough commute to get from XNA to the NE. My friend did it for a while to BOS - two legs of course, thru ORD because the 1-leg flt on American (Envoy) (XNA-LGA) don't go frequently enough to commute on. More flights to ATL on Delta, of course with some mainline.

Honestly, it a tough, tough commute with a surprisingly large number of commuters for the size of the area is what he says. He commutes to Dallas now and rides the jumpseat a lot.

Carl,

By "worst case" do you mean with the Virgin JV, or without?

Without the JV, something like 300,000 international widebody block hours are unprotected.

JV scope is limiting, not a goal. We should not assume to know what the Company's plans are; economics change moment by moment. But we can, and do, build baseline protections ... and in this case, ensure our participation in growth.

Along those lines, Heathrow is slot controlled and it makes sense to run the largest gauge available into those limited slots. If so, Delta would have to add more international wide body block hours to keep up on an Available Seat Kilometer basis.

Again, we are debating an LOA which has not yet been fully vetted by and debated by our Reps, the men we trust to perform the job with the assistance of subject matter experts. We should defer to our Negotiator's Notepad and Reps' communications.

I wrote my rep today about the Virgin JV TA. I told him that the TA itself appears to be weaker than the AF/KL/AZ language that the company has repeatedly run roughshod over, but I'm not an expert on contract language by any means & am willing to hear what the NC/MEC has to say about it. The bigger problem, I said, is the blackout on information (I got the TA language from this board, sheesh) and the MEC appearing to want to make a decision free of input from the membership. I suggested that they table the TA for now, put out the actual language along with their explanation of the various provisions, and vote on it in a few weeks once the membership has had a chance to examine the provisions and provide input to their reps. This would be a more democratic process befitting something that has such a huge potential impact on our future careers.

We'll see whether I hear back. He's been pretty responsive in the past.
JB, congrats on completing probation. I'm glad you're back. You're one poster I enjoy reading. From what I've read you're intellectually honest...no spin. Hope to see you posting here often.

There's an app called Find Craft Beer. Yelp works too.

Last time I flew to XNA, we had an ATL-based commuter on the JS (717). He mentioned he is "always, without exception" (his words) on the JS, as EVERY seat is ALWAYS full. (No idea if that's hyperbole or not, but the three times I've been there, we were 100% full going in and out.). Apparently, Walmart drives a LOT of traffic in & out. Anyway, he described the commute as "tough but doable," and was very happy to have mainline aircraft flying the route so he could reserve his spot on the JS....

Good luck!
