You could always volunteer to help out the PBS Quality Control group, who has to check each and every run for contract compliance, for every category, in every base, multiple times per day.
After a few months of that, you will know why it takes so long. OR...we could do away with the PBS QC Comm, and let the company assign all the flying to everyone, with no regard to unstacking rules and make sure the bottom 50% of every category is flying on every weekend and holiday. The runs will be out about one day faster that way...and you will -not- like the results! I appreciate the sarcasm because I'm sarcastic myself. I didn't know we put that much work into the runs. So I do appreciate the insight. I need to learn more about this... So maybe I'll have to look into this QC stuff. Might learn a lot. Thanks. |
When picking up an easy credit filled White Slip that has and early duty out on a Saturday ... should a guy fear a reroute?
Be a nice trip to P/U, but not so much fun if doing so just makes you scheduling's ***** to avoid GS action on the weekend. |

They are always looking for new blood. Call DALPA and ask them when you can get started. You'll be amazed at how much work goes into checking each and every run. |

Our scope is now voluntary on the part of Delta management. If they don't like it, they'll ignore it and DALPA's job is to make you feel good about it.
ALPA has done nothing but slowly relax our scope for the last ten years. When we haven't relaxed it fast enough and management has violated the contract then ALPA just signs these Letters of Agreement to permit pretty much whatever management wants to do. Here's been the tough part for me though: I used to believe that maybe guys had busy lives and just didn't pay enough attention and didn't understand what was happening. They figured their reps knew best and they couldn't be bothered. I thought we needed to do a better job of educating line pilots. I no longer think that. I've come to the hard realization that its not "ALPA" doing it against our will. It's what the majority wants. There is no other explanation for the pilot group's lack of response when these outsourcing deals keep getting approved. The Delta pilots have made a conscious and willful decision to place our trust in management and put profitability ahead of job protection. WE have decided that its in our long term best interests to sacrifice some flying and some jobs in order to maximize the financial health of the corporation. Traditional "scope" is an outdated concept. While the economy is good and we are hiring 100 a month then nobody cares about outsourcing. Let the good times roll. But watch out when the music stops. Carl Spackler warned us. |

I have no clue. It sounded to me like they want assets in Amsterdam and the UK where taxes are lower. Not sure if we are considered assets. I don't think any of us have a clue what RA and the guys are planning the next 10 years.

Reserve??
As a relatively new guy, I'm don't understand PBS very well...so I need an assist. I've been a line holder for a few months, and was expecting a line again...why not? My bid is easy, just a couple Award lines for 4 day trips and layovers at home. I have a carryover trip, that has 19 hours of credit into Jan. When the schedule came out, it gave me reserve...happened to a few of my buds as well. Here's what the Reasons Report says:
Bid group not attempted: Previous pairing bid group could not build a complete line What does that mean? Why do so many people below me have a line when they had holiday trips as well? Help! |

It's amazing that we don't have specific language for non-compliance by the company. Even after we have known that they will not comply with our current AF JV, we sign another JV without specific penalties for non-compliance. We never learn from our mistakes. We are clearly leaving WB jobs on the table and it's costing Delta pilots money because of the lack of availability of those jobs. Carl |
