Sailinfun, et al.

There is no doubt that IOS is a superior operating system to Win RT. That accounts for your freezes. But the Surface is a superior device. It is more capable and configurable and upgradeable. Pair it with a better OS and I think it will be a very good device for our purposes.

I don't even carry my MacBook Air any more because the Surface does all I need on the road. I take a TB HD and have all the infotainment one needs even without a decent internet connection. The keyboard is way easier to type on than an IPad screen. In the ipad's favor is app support. RT support is woefully inadequate but it's on the way out. I think we'll have full blown windows soon.

My hope is MS makes a smaller Surface Pro 3 with the same features.

Pull up pilot names on one of the flights on the rotation too. Once, I had no I or L on the rotation, but there was the other guy on pilot names.

FWIW.

Sooner or later something is going to go wrong on your surface and you're going to have to exchange it out for a loaner. They will send you a new one that you will completely have to reconfigure. I am not willing to risk having to swap out on a few minutes notice. I could post forever on the other issues. The Ipad simply is a far better EFB that works.
Delta often seems to want to do things bigger and better then others. In the end we wind up with a complex system with high failure rates. Our onboard entertainment system being a classic example. The surfaces are failing so fast Delta has run out of them!

I like the surface. I don't really like it as an EFB.

However, my judgement could be skewed because I really don't like the content locker. If Delta used a different PDF reader for our manuals, my opinion may change.

Here we go again.

Maybe a little international risk-sharing isn't always a bad thing.
Study shows H7N9 diversity, human threat

An analysis of viruses from the second wave of H7N9 avian flu in China that began in late 2013 shows a rapid expansion both geographically and in genetic diversity, which poses a challenge to disease control and demonstrates the potential of H7N9 to emerge as a pandemic strain in humans, according to a study summarized in a letter to Naturetoday.
An international group of researchers obtained swabs at live-poultry markets in 15 cities of five provinces in eastern China from October 2013 to July 2014. H7N9 was detected in swabs from seven cities, all of which had confirmed human cases. The virus was found in an average of 3% of samples, with a high of 15.4% one month in the city of Nanchang in Jiangxi province.
The investigators also sequenced the complete genomes of 438 isolates and found that as H7N9 spread south, it evolved into three main phylogenetic branches, or clades, each with multiple sub-branches.
They identified many new genetic variants that have become established in chickens and have spread across the country, most likely from poultry movement along trade routes. The researchers propose that control measures such as permanently closing live-poultry markets and inhibiting poultry transport during disease outbreaks will reduce the number of human cases of H7N9.
The authors summarize, "Repeated introductions of viruses from Zhejiang to other provinces and the presence of H7N9 viruses at live poultry markets have fuelled the recurrence of human infections. This rapid expansion of the geographical distribution and genetic diversity of the H7N9 viruses poses a direct challenge to current disease control systems."
They conclude, "Our results also suggest that H7N9 viruses have become enzootic in China and may spread beyond the region, following the pattern previously observed with H5N1 and H9N2 influenza viruses. . . . Therefore, H7N9 viruses should be considered as a major candidate to emerge as a pandemic strain in humans."

Doesn't affect me as I'm not going to fly the 767. Just a suggestion.

I also believe the 737-900er and A 321 should pay ER pay in C2015.
I thought you were against pay banding.

I would like a different reader on the content locker so I can save my notes.

If I had a suggestion to make it would be that I could put two Jepps up at one time on the split screen.

I just figured out that the standard calculator does C to F conversions, that's nice. Now only if it had a crosswind calculator. That'd be nice at times. I guess I could use the sin and cos function on the calculator....

Okay I tried the math on the scientific calculator and that was easy. Angle degrees + sin button x speed = crosswind and angle degrees + cos x speed equal headwind/tailwind. Yeah. I did math.

I'm trying to drop a spill over trip and getting capped reserve days message even thought they are all blue for this month. Next month's schedule is not out, but I thought it didn't matter anymore? I thought we fixed that glitch a while back?
