How would augmenting the flight increase utilization? The only time I see the company doing this is so they can fly a market 1 to 3 days a week and have it fly as a turn. That way they avoid having to pay 5:15 per day while the crew sits on a 3 day layover in Punta something! I suspect these will me more Latin and short SA trips. Still lots of issues for the company to resolve before we fly them. On the narrow bodies only the 17 757ER's have a rest seat.

I think perhaps his point was that 90% of the pilots on the 1 year bids are converted in 6 months. The company always seems to use it on a winter bid to allow the option to retain pilots in understaffed categories for the summer peak. That usually is almost always the 7ER pilots because it has the biggest summer winter swing. Those that don't get converted in the Spring will almost all see a Sep or OCT conversion.
Augmenting also allows turns to Latin American cities which might not be suitable for normal overnights for security or accommodation reasons.
I seriously doubt we'll see true domestic augmenting; it costs more and allows less operational flexibility.

EFB question... have any of you installed a browser other than the IE that came on it? I would like to put Chrome on mine but when searching the app store all I could find were guides for Google chrome to show short cuts and such. I didn't see any other browsers available.
Does anyone know if its possible to put chrome or Firefox on the EFB? Thanks. E

If that's ever happened I'm sure its incredibly rare. I'd never even consider taking that into account to the point I delayed bidding something I could hold in fear of that happening.
These days AE's come out almost monthly. They're not going to hose someone arbitrarily while 8-10 more AE's come and go with all of them getting converted before someone else.
I get it that just a few years ago, you were having to worry if you should tell everyone you always wanted FWIC and were happy to put in for that unaccompanied remote so you could compete while simultaneously completing PME and AAD when what you really wanted was just to go ops-ops and finish your career in the seat.
Step 6.9 of the recovery plan: bid what you want, and want what you bid.

Nope, not the 763. The 764 thru 747 same at UAL. 764 thru 777 same at AMR. AMR would pay 747 more if they had any. Unless I misread it. Hey, nice to have some new hires. I'm kinda for banding. CIAO OFG
From one SSA (single seat anonymous) recovering addict to another, let me give you some advice: you're overthinking your life, brother.
