All the main cabin lavs are in the rear. If you have an aisle seat in the last 10 rows you have people in line for the toilets leaning over you most of the flight

Just did an APU cold start on a transcon this week..the first time I've seen it requested via the FPL in months.

And it did start on first attempt...

I'm not on the 73, but I thought the -900s all came etops certified. I could swear I heard that a long time ago.

Nope. 2 batteries are required for ETOPS and most 900 only have 1

Although we send some pretty "in need of updating" 75s out there too. Just flew one. I hope they add frequencies with the 737 instead of replacing 75 time. Alaska seems to fly those things from everywhere on the west coast to everywhere in Hawaii.

Complete side bar here.

I miss flying to china. Culturally she's like the psycho girlfriend that you just can't delete from your phone contact list.

Anyway, in the foreign airline section there's a downloadable blog book written by a guy that flew there for about 4-5 years that is really an excellent read...if anyone is interested.

West coast to Hawaii begins Feb 16. Ships 3853-3900 will all be modified or delivered ETOPS.

Very nice, that's what I figured, thanks for the extra detail. I am sure all the 73N bases will want to get in on the action, it will be interesting to see how crew skeds flesh out the mix, or whether its primarily LAX and SEA guys flying the trips...

I wonder if the trips will be built as 2 leg 3 days worth about 11 hours with the 24 hour layover and red eye home? I hear those aren't too desirable from a pay stand point...

Also, I am guessing the loads will have to be regulated. I am not sure how a fully loaded -900ER will take off out of Kahului/Maui with a 6995' runway and fly for 5.5 hours to the west coast with step climbs along the way. I guess we will start with HNL and go from there.
