Moondog,

The issue of WS vs.GS comes up every so often and it is usually a good learning opportunity for new guys.

First off there are probably about 11,000 pilots flying the line each month with 11,000 unique situations.

I bid min credit in November got a 66 hour line and then a GS. The GS trigger is 72 so guess what - a WS would get me to the trigger. This is known as "protecting a GS." OK, I just made that up, but I like it.

At other times I have WS a trip with a great layover to see some old friends.

I could go on, but the point is that we are each free to exercise our seniority rights however we want. I could care less if my WS takes away another guys potential GS. Just the same, I don't begrudge senior guys doing the same to me and would expect them to exercise their seniority rights however they choose.

I am full for the month. I know if I GS I'm just flying for straight pay. That said, will they put the PB days on top of my "full" days at the end of this month or do I get to carry them into a future month?

If I get to carry them over, would I have the same luck using them on x-mas as say an APD?

Thanks!
Just call CS and ask but I think....
You would get PB days in your bank. You can use the PB day the next month or down the road if they have resv coverage on the days you want to drop. If you have a line the next month you can drop a 4 day trip if they have coverage for the 4 days and you had 4 PB days in your bank. Best bet is you request your PB days on the 1st PCS run on the 20th of the month. You can also GS on you PB days unlike a PD or a APD

Thanks guys, I called sched and ALPA. Looks like pb days in the bank if I GS on an xx day, just a plain ws if I GS on a FULL day.

There are airports in Europe that alcohol test flight crew when they pass theough security. The implication is that the crew member showed up to work with alcohol in system.

I'll piggy back on this. In XXX, they are waiting for you at the bottom of the escalator and they breathalize ALL crewmembers. This is the XXXXX police that do this. Bottom line is this-don't drink and drive and limit yourself on layovers. If you can't handle those two simple things you may have a problem. The individual this happened to is going to get help. He is not going to lose his job.

Contract question..........since I don't speak lawyer real good, either that or my search skills are getting worse.

I'm sitting here waiting for OE. Looks like I've got even longer to wait, yes I know boohooooo But, what am I getting paid? Reserve guarantee is what's on my time card but that seems a little generous. Training pay per day for scheduled reserve days?

Anyway, just curious since I really don't care if they ever call me

You are getting reserve guarantee. When I was in training I got a "shadow" regular line that paid more. i set condition max credit and got paid what was on my line while I waited for TOE.
