I think... yes, to the thread title: The continued 'divide and conquer' tactics at dal are still alive and well. And working.

Hey, screw safety? Let's have written into a union pwa, a competition to see who can use the least amount of SL. The prize, a single day of vacation (paid at half the value of any decent pwa). Did anyone call 60min.s, the Nightly Show, you can't make this stuff up.

If it's TA'ed, we'll hear them say," I only use my off days for getting sick and picking up green slips. What's not to like about this pwa?"

Can we just give that crap back? Seems like a competition they'd have at In-N-Out burger instead of professional airline pilots.

AIRCRAFT
- 747: there are 7 still flying; they retire Dec 2017. I'm not sure if that will be all 7 or if they'll be down to 1 or 2 by then.
- A359: service from DTW, beginning 3rd Qtr 2017.
- 767: oldest ones in the fleet will be retired, replaced by remaining 333 deliveries (we have 26 now, 5 more coming) and then the 33neo deliveries (25 from '19-'22).
- 757: Network says this jet fills a niche like no other airplane does. Boeing is looking at a 757 replacement aircraft because of this niche. If they build one, Delta wants it.
- A321: 5 now in service; 82 by 2019.
- 739: 60 of the 120 delivered
- MD88: retiring from 2017 - '21. When they come up for their H inspections, they will be "put down." His words...that got a chuckle. Replacing them with the deliveries of A321s, 739s, and CS-100s.
- 717: all 91 delivered
- CS-100: initial bases in LAX, SEA, and then JFK.

NETWORK:
- Delta plans to grow at DFW but, to answer a question from a Texas commuter, has no plans to put a pilot base there. Staying at Love Field and would actually like to get more gates there, pending court action between Dallas and Southwest.
- Growth at LHR enabled by Virgin Atlantic JV. Heathrow is the biggest European business hub.
- Growth in China enabled by China Eastern JV.
- Service to Cuba from JFK starts in December.
Any mention of 320s being put down? Heard that could be coming next year.

Default Recency question...??

If you have recency on your sked, and you thankfully got THE landing you needed...then what? I have contacted training planner (phone msg, email) but sim is still on my sked.

I have been to sim where a guy no shows and instructor says, "he must have gotten his landing.." Just wondering if I need to have it erased from my sked or not..??

thanks!

I thought they got some sort of life extension from Airbus and were being updated inside. Has that changed?

Yes you do. If the planner won't help call the fleet CA.

Was there any mention of closing the 717 base in LAX and moving the planes east once the CS100 is up and running? Not trying to start a rumor, just seems it would make logistical sense to consolidate the overlapping assets. In addition, will we have extra gate space at LAX to handle all these new planes? Place is already 25 lbs of crap in a 10 lb bag, can't imagine adding another 10 lbs of crap.

Another tidbit for the thread title... If you can wait it out, before making a decision impacting the rest of your career, Dal pilots may be unwinding with Alpa and looking for a new dance partner. Feathers may be flying shortly!

If it's all about flying small airplanes for the majority of your career and working 50% more to get the equivalent of big airplane income, no problem. Good luck with the SL sweepstakes.

Advance apologies for the "off topic" post. (More than likely be missed in all the concessionary ..... err..... contract discussions.)
Any recommendations on a last-minute cruise website that offers deals to airline employees? I know of Dargal.com and ID90.com, but any others? Also, in your opinion, which is better? (i.e. dargal, id90, etc.)

Thanks for the replies, looking to go tomorrow for a last-minute, three-day trip.

Cheers,
Elliot
