Thanks, I'll look into it.

It does look like UAL will cancel their A350 order so that will move us up some perhaps. If we don't get a agreement on a JV with China it would not surprise me to see the entire order canceled. A fleet of less then 15 makes no sense and they prefer 25 as a minimum.
I would think Airbus would have something to say about canceling the entire order this late in the game since some of them are already being built. I suspect the what will really happen if we don't get some agreement with an Asian carrier, is that we will get somewhere between 0-25 aircraft.........

NW canceled their A340 orders approximately a month or two before scheduled delivery. I recall they paid a big penalty and converted to narrowbodies. I'm sure Airbus wasn't happy.

They will have to take delivery of the first five or so. It only takes about 10K to secure a delivery position. Penalties don't get big until they are in production. If they want out of the program they will sell those five. They did it years ago with 777's and recently with the E190's. It would make a lot more economic sense to pick up some used 777's to cover the 747 flying if we are not going to get the Chinese JV done. I am not liking the tea leaves at the moment so to speak.

Why would the buy of the A350s be contingent on a Chinese JV?

That's what they were purchased for in the first place. The Shanghai hub was planned to be like the AMS hub however it requires the range of a 777,787 or 350. With the length of the flight to Shanghai it was going to take a lot of airframes for that flying. To fill them plus the CS share you need feed on both ends. Absent that agreement we won't have a market to fly the airframes in. With the current international outlook airlines are dumping or deferring wide body orders left and right and new orders are a fraction of what they were 5 years ago.

Surprisingly, we are not paying penalties on the E190. We are taking delivery of those aircraft and selling them, much like we did with the 737-800 deliveries after 9/11.

I think you got it backwards. A350's were ordered with the condition of China Eastern being a Skyteam partner.
If JV with them is signed the A350's are not needed - that flying will be given to the Chinese. Be prepared to hear something like "there is no money because it can't carry enough cargo so we canceled the order".

Just like downsizing the order from 25 - you heard it here first

Hopefully not that bad, looks like we should the slotted 11.
According to the internet N115 is in station 50 now.

The JV is the only way we get the slots and can make a hub politically viable. The airframes were ordered specifically for the Shanghai hub and that is why the range issues were crtitical.

Default front end DH deviation ?

have a trip with a PVD dh leg the first day. There are 3 flights up there with the 2nd giving me 10:25 rest for the next day. The trip has me booked on the 1st and I would like to dh on the 2nd. Am I legal per the contract if the 3rd flight would not give me the required rest to fly the next day?

Thanks
