NYC 73N B staffing

Still on probation and don't know what a "normal" ebb/flow of block hours / manning levels looks like.

Currently approx 170 FO's, the plug was hired first week in Nov and there hasn't been another NYC 737 spot awarded to the new hire classes in Dec, Jan, and first class in Feb (so far).

Almost 50 FO's moving out between remaining 2017 MOAB and Dec AE's, all supposed to convert by June.

The 6 month out projected category list shows roughly 125 FO's, but 200 Captains.

Is the category really carrying 50 extra FO's thru the winter, or is there about to be a sh!t ton of new hires getting NYC 737? Or will the company just accept the shortage and throw green slips to get thru the summer? Can they delay/prevent the FO's from converting as scheduled?

Thanks!

Anyone else see the latest news feed where he talks about widebodies? At the end he mentions they want to be a part of the new Boeing 757/76 replacement project and they hopefully can be a launch customer for it.
That would be an exciting aircraft to get at this airline and it fits the timeline perfectly to replace our er fleet, on top of the 330 Neos and 350s coming

Vaporware jets are always exciting. Maybe we can throw in a few dozen Sonic Cruisers to round out the order.

HSA

I’m getting ready to transition from Tricare to Delta Healthcare. I’m trying to find info on the HSA’s. Does anyone have a good link that discusses max contributions, investment options, how they work in general? I’m interested in the saving/investment opportunities for retirement.

I’m of the opinion investing in an HSA is better than an IRA (if you have to choose between the two). We don’t have to choose. How much you can contribute depends on your age and whether you are single or have a family.

Google HSA and you will get some articles that explain HSA’s. I just did and this seems to be the best out of the few I perused.

Optum Bank is Delta’s preferred HSA provider. It’s associated with UHC. You can payroll deduct directly into your account. If you use some other bank, you will have to figure out how. Investment funds are kinda limited but I’ve done ok for not being an investment guru.

Good luck!

Thanks Denny, do you have to use Optum or are they just “preferred”? Are there others? If I look at the Optum website can I see the funds available for investment?

It’s not a requirement to use them but it does make it much easier. If you use them, your contribution is divided over 24 pay periods and automatically taken out pretax. If you use someone else, YOU have to make the contribution post tax and reconcile it at tax time. I’m pretty sure that you need to keep a minimum balance of $2000 on the “cash” side. Once you exceed this amount, you can move it to the “investment” side. I’m out of the country right now and don’t like to access my accounts on hotel WiFi or I’d look up what funds are available.

I’ve been contributing ever since the HSA has been offered and then paying out of pocket for medical. When I retire I plan on using this money for Medicare and Medicare supplemental insurance for as long as I can.

Great info, thanks. I looked at Optum’s web site and it shows funds available. I just wasn’t sure if DAL limited it or if Optum was in charge. I appreciate all the help, it makes the decision a little easier.
