That is for if you're taking your 2 hours to commute, they can give you something as soon as 2 hours after short call commences.

As far as the 40 minute thing... I'll get there when I get there. There would be zero way I'd make that even living 20 minutes away from the lot at a good time of day.

Wow. I'm half that distance to LGA and consider my house near the limits of reasonable for short call to NYC. (Based on the unwritten 2 hour rule.) It's all subjective I guess.

Ehhh....the long-standing and accepted practice in NYC has been 2 hours(ish) in normal traffic from any one of the three (LGA, JFK, EWR). Can't help that 8 am call-out with an hour+ of traffic on the VanWyck ("They say no one's ever beaten the VanWyck...but gentlemen, I tell you this... I came as close as anyone ever has"). Many times scheduling will even authorize short-term parking (if you ask) which saves a lot of time at JFK and EWR...Laguardia, not so much these days.

Clearly I hurt your feelings judging by your last sentence.
Those who know what a callout is know that when the clock says 4pm when the phone rings and report time is 4:40pm, it's a 40 minute callout. These are called facts, and when you foolishly say they can't happen it's important to explain it s l o w l y and s i m p l y. Do you now understand? I thought all our applicants required a college degree, not sure how you made it through without ever taking math but congratulations either way.

I didn't say you had to show up in 40 minutes or get in trouble as you seem to have latched on to. 40 minute call out, go read the last paragraph 10 more times if it hasn't sunk in. Let me know if you need help counting to 10, my college had math. Now take a deep breath, don't kick your dog, and stop being so angry when another pilot wants to improve the profession.

There is no "40 minute callout", nor 1 hour, nor 2 hours. And there most definitely should not have been any repercussions for being "late". There is, however, a requirement to "promptly report" for an assignment. It was your personal choice to rush for a "40 minute callout". Clearly you are not based in NYC or LAX, because it would never work.

You don't have to make it on time, but they will call you 40 minutes later asking where you are, then again about 30 minutes after that, then the CP will call and ask where you are about 10 minutes after that call. Answer: About 40 minutes away like I told them I would be when they first called me. Don't ask me how I know this formula.

They can call all they like. You will "promptly report" when you get there.

I think you get a 20% discount. Call Delta Cargo, they can help you out.

I can absolutely see why you would think that, however, there are days it takes me 1+40 then days it can take me 3 hours. I am not going to run up and down the Merritt parkway finding a Starbucks or chuck-e-cheese to play ski ball at depending on the time of day and possibility of them calling me at 40 minutes.

Hand Hans Hans... relax brotha. People aren’t ripping you for 40 minutes. And ripping them for giving their respective answers sounds like you are still in high school never mind the prestigious college you took your math courses at. With all due respect you may of had an outstanding education, but still were a sucker to jump on Scheduling’s grenade and rush to the airport. Sometimes you can’t teach life skills from a book or audio tapes like hooked on phonics I guess. Hope the deadhead buffed out well for ya!

Being on reserve isn't like the Strategic Air Command. Tell them your on your way. Unless you're looking for a Chairman's Club nomination. Then you could sleep in the pilot lounge and someday have your picture on the wall outside the CPOs office.
