Does anyone know if skyhub requests location services?

Go to location services on your iPad. You can see it for yourself.

More importantly, though, why not say that instead of saying it’s about location and privacy concerns?
you’re giving misleading information (not accusing you of doing so on purpose) by conflating OS- and app-level location information use. The app doesn’t even request location services.

I never said it requested location services. Like I said above, I was simply responding to an article where Denny mentioned seeing an article about tracking on an iPhone. That’s all. I’m not conflating anything. I don’t worry one iota about SkyHubba bubba. Thank you though and have a good day. :)

Fair enough. My apologies for the confusion.

Other than the “creepy” factor of my phone tracking my locations what is the downside of this? I really don’t care who knows where I have been and I really do not get a lot of targeted ads.

I am much more concerned about screen name and password issues.

I don’t really worry about it either. Otherwise I’d probably be living in a bunker/bombshelter out in the middle of the Mohave.

I DO mind some company data mining my location and selling it. If they are gonna make money by selling my info, I should be compensated for it!:)

Don't worry, it'll show up as a tiny fraction of your profit sharing check... 😀

You don't need to download an app to access Skyhub. You can access it via a web browser through any computer. It's actually a good tool for communication inside and between work groups. CR and Dispatch seems to post good information on there. Just don't post anything stupid (ie you wouldn't put graffiti all over the crew room, stick political stickers on the walls, walk in dressed inappropriately, fight with your coworkers, get into petty arguments with managment etc, etc).

With that said, you don't have to go on Skyhub either! Everything we need to safely operate the airplane is in our content locker or pushed to us via bulletins.

After reading MEC Alert 18-38 Urgent SkyHub, I chose to claim may account for the sole purpose of locking it down beyond the defaults it was created with. My interpretation was that the unclaimed profile can be tagged in posts. I wanted to block that and claimed the account for that purpose.

I was alarmed to see that someone I've never met is following me on SkyHub. I suspect there are others who are following pilots, just looking for an opportunity to cry foul at the slightest incursion. I tried blocking followers and couldn't find a way to do so. My total post count on SkyHub is 0, with a career goal of 0. There is no reason to use SkyHub beyond read only. Even then, the only thing I've actually used SkyHub for was watching Joe Esposito's video as a source of guidance on the upcoming AE.

IMHO the MEC's position is out of fear that some will post on SkyHub, much like they do on the Widget FB page, APC or Heaven forbid CC. They may also be concerned about interaction with employees outside of the pilot group. Despite the occasional whining on APC, most of us have developed a thick skin and the ability to ignore the unimportant. It is part of how we succeed in our profession. Other employee groups don't necessarily share those traits and are easily offended by worthless chaff. I appreciate the MEC's concern and have opted for self restraint, rather than have an unclaimed account that can be tagged in posts.

I signed up and put the app on my phone. I noticed I wasn't using it so I deleted it. I have too many useless apps already. Now I just see the stuff on the deltanet flightops page. I don't really read that either because stuff I need is elsewhere before I get to the bottom of that page. And I'm too busy on my phone gaming, APCing, CCing, and FBing during those ATL appreciation and evasion blocks built into my schedule.

Is that where they keep the rubber bands?
