just saw Ed is predicting 5B in profit again this year...with a similar amount to last year, not too optimistic that our profit sharing will increase from last year...thoughts?

At the SLC flight ops meeting they said the profit sharing pool would be much higher for this year than last.

My understandings night is we are on track for over 6 billion in profits and a substantial increase in PS. I want 16.3% in the pool. Our CEO may have been quoting post tax numbers. PS is based on pretax.

They actually don’t have to do that. It depends on when the door failed and what they determine was the cause. As a example the A380 wing failed testing but the failure was at something like 148% verses the required 150%. No redesign was required. I understand the door failure was at a similar percentage. It may be a very simple or even non existent fix or it could be complicated. Boeing seems to indicate it’s not a big issue.

You’re saying the same thing I did. When was the last time Boeing said they had a problem? Of course they will down play a failure, especially now. The FAA can’t be seen as soft on this. Like we both said, no answers yet.

Our accrual to date is like 20% over last year. Wages have increased so the percentage won’t be staggering but the dollars will be more.

Why is there not a push to get rid of the GS trigger? It seems like our peers everywhere else have no such trigger. From people I've talked to so far at jetblue, united, and atlas, they can all drop their entire schedules if they want to and fly any premium trip at premium pay.

JB can drop to 70 into open time (if the reserve grid allows), or down to 0 if someone picks it up off the trade board.

I would support an extra coverage step above GSWC but below all other triggered GS

Absolutely! As a half-step, lower it significantly. It's insane that bailing out the company and saving the schedule with little notice only pays extra if you've flown a whole schedule at straight pay. It's not overtime, it's bacon-saving.
