They are just putting in place something to help the operation because of their social distancing measures they are starting. No non-revs or paying pax will be in a middle seat. That plus massively reduced frequencies in some cities with tons of commuters, they have to ensure crew members get to work as loads come back.
CNN’s big headline this morning is that the country is doomed for at least the next two years. Good luck to all of us.

One week ago, the Thursday (4/23) TSA screening numbers jumped about 15%, week on week. Yesterday’s (4/30) numbers were up 38% from that jump. It’s still below 10% of what it was a year ago on the same day, but a welcome improvement, especially if the trend continues.

Also, according to PB, we flew 38,000 systemwide, which equates to ~24.5% of all the TSA numbers.

They wish it could stay that long. Their ratings depend on it. Sorry a$& network. It’ll be a quicker recovery than what everyone is saying. People are eager to put this to rest and resume some sense of normalcy.
there should be a study on how many people actually go back to work after all this. My last flight was 14 apr. my next res obligation 12 May (assuming any MDs left!). I’m settling in nicely to this stay at home, fish, work on boat, lifestyle.

How long is this policy in effect? Makes sense since demand is low, but 66% LF isn’t sustainable, and two feet between pax (no middle seat) isn’t six feet (however that became the magic number). Plus we’re all wearing masks now...

Fear is good! Just like the meat plant closures. Nice little run on the grocery stores. Whatever meat was left on the shelf that is.
Im no conspiracy theorist, however the main stream media sucks. They're so biased. Its about ad revenue. Whatever sells.
In Connecticut 60% of the COVID deaths are in nursing homes. They flash the DEATH TOLL number all over the screen. Like these people were walking down the street and got hit by the Alien death ray sniper thats just come from outer space. STAY IN YOUR HOUSE OR ELSE!!!
I blame some leadership too. I wont mention any names DONALD TRUMP! But hey, you wanted chaos and "shake it up," so now in a pandemic, this is what you get. Sorry to go political, because Im quite Republican in principle but Trump is an idiot. Its personal. Not political. Its fueled this media frenzy too. Especially in a Presidential election cycle.
Are people really getting sick? Yes. Is there a real threat from a virus we cant control or fully understand? Yes. Have we lost control of society with no preparedness, plan and leadership? Yes. There will be fallout, politically, economically and socially.

Yep, and funny thing is the worst offender's add revenues come from ratings which come from "forced viewership" in airports.
I also blame Trump for much of this, like the insanely overreaction, way too long "shutdown" nonsense. However the left wants it to be much worse for much longer (if it saves just one life!) so they can grab more political marketshare, so in that respect they're far worse. Oh but I'm sure come January an open borders socialist will fix it so brighter days are right around the corner.

And now it’s confirmed that Flight Ops is interpreting this new policy as both directions.
