That a boy, I’m with you! All the extra gas we want to carry costs us money burning gas to carry the gas. If I’ve got a .2 in the fuel remaining at touchdown, I’m winning, and all of your profit sharing checks will reflect that, you’re welcome. For as long as I last, until Mother Nature throws me a curve. 😀

Delta vs. American. I have CJOs at both, and live in a Delta base, but not an American base. Long term goal is WB B flying, and then eventually NB A. What would you do and why?

Based on the bolded part above, your decision is easy. Living in base is like an entirely different job than commuting, even to a WB. You'll have plenty of WB B and NB A opportunities at DAL. Welcome to DAL!

There is no decision to be made. Living in base may be the single greatest QoL factor (that you can control) there is.

In the big picture, both contracts are pretty similar. But imagine that American has an addendum that they require 2-5 days of unpaid volunteer work away from home every single month for the rest of your career, and you’ll have to contribute $100-$500 of after-tax money every month to the union hotel fund. Are there enough other good things about American that would make the contract with the commuter addendum worthwhile?

You should commute to the American base. Commuting is fun and provides you with a quiet opportunity to catch up on some reading, chat with your seat mate, or enjoy the latest release of Candy Crush.

While both companies carry astronomical debt loads, American comes in first with a net debt of ~$40B vs Delta’s ~$19B. Think of all the creative ways MGMT will finally be compelled to address that pesky debt issue once they can’t use COVID as an excuse anymore. Fun!

Not even a question.....DL...drive to work...sit short call in your house in your boxers....pad the wallet by picking up short notice greenies....use the extra money to fly you and the wife/girlfriend to International vacations.

Sounds about right. If you can sit short call, while doing your best Al Bundy on the couch, you be winning in life.

I recommend taking either the wife OR girlfriend to international vacations, but not both. Unless, of course, they’re into that…

This is really the best way I’ve ever seen it explained.
