If reserve coverage is good it’s automatic. Problem is, that situation is super rare these days, so you need folks to want your trips. It is pretty easy to drop good short trips on weekdays. It gets progressively harder as trips get longer and less desirable all the way to almost impossible for crappy weekend trips.

If life changes and you’re trying to drop it 3 days before? Virtually unheard of in most categories.

There are a couple of options. You can try to drop outright, which requires reserve coverage, you can use a silver bullet type of drop (called APDs and IVDs), of which you get a few a year (drops permitted below the reserve coverage, but there still has to be some), or place the trip on the pilot swap board which another pilot can pick up outright.

Each method has it's pros/cons, but if you keep your silver bullets when you really need them, even short notice drops are possible. If you plan ahead, it's rarely an issue to simply drop a trip or have someone else pick it up.

Great news. Nice to know there are options available.

Thanks

I’ve got a theory for why our passengers are getting rowdier….

You think it’s the hat?

No?

A lot of people hate this hat. It angers a lot of people, just the sight of it.

Well then we should take it off- wait a minute! If you even think about removing the mask mandate then you're encouraging these horrible people!

And if you think thats stupid and made up, thats a real "conversation" ive had and left. These people and their masks.

Please don't bring masks into this thread. We've heard it all before. Move on or talk in one of the many mask related threads.

Holy hell. Anyone else stayed at the Sonesta Select for training? I’ve never had an issue sleeping in a hotel before, but I got tagged with an interstate adjacent room and it is unbelievable. Awake every night from 1-4 or 5. Hot and noisy for days. Who do you call to fatigue out of a sim lesson???

I stay there just recently I was fortunate enought to get a pool facing room. I have heard it's quite noisy if you get one of the interstate rooms.

That problem has an easy solution. If the hotel cannot give you another room to get proper rest, then call accommodations and tell them you need another hotel. The reason we stay at hotels with noise issues is because no one complains about it. It's your right to stay somewhere to get proper sleep.
