How's staffing looking in everyone's category? NYC73NA has 6 pilots awarded reserve, and 5 of them have vacation. Should be a lucrative March

I'm I the only one here who remembers the profit sharing check the last two years? The profit sharing check this year is far from being money in the bank. It is likely to be very small.

I say this to juxtapose with just about every other 73NB category getting their junk pushed in daily. So dumb. |

I would call this an overdue, but good development for our new hires that have been delayed on completely OE through no fault of their own.
From the union email, “Entry level pilots who have gone beyond their 44X simulator event by more than 30 days without completing initial OE, will be transitioned to flight pay at their first year rate. They will be paid in accordance with PWA Section 11 B. 5. d. or a pro rata portion of the reserve guarantee depending on whether they are a regular or reserve pilot. Periods of inactive payroll status will not count towards the 30 days.” |

I bid reserve on purpose in NYC73NB. Over 20% of the category is on reserve. There were 7 open trips at the bottom of the Wide report. I would guess that since ALV was set at 84 and reserve coverage so good that there will be a big dump into OT early on, but I still don’t plan to fly much.

This is a trial balloon that management will be floating as our negotiations continue. Prepare for many more as they seek concessions from us, but remember, “we appreciate everything you do on the line every day”.
I can save them the trouble…my negotiators speak for me - just get to the negotiating table as much as possible this year and we should be good. |

It is good in a vacuum, but we just solved one of management's problems with ZERO progress on a contract.
More recently some pilots have been on training pay while waiting on OE that may not even be scheduled until after they’ve gone back to the sim for an SRQ course (120 days post 44X). I think advocating for them to be paid flight pay sooner when it’s the company’s fault they haven’t been able to complete OE and convert is the right thing to do, period. I am open to understanding what we’ve solved for the company, but I am not as sympathetic about the idea of leaving the most junior pilots on extended training pay as sort of hostages to advance section 6 negotiations along faster. |
