Heard rumor the LGA switch with USAIR has been pushed back to APR!
And while the UPS styled system is attractive on paper I'm sure there are pitfalls with it. I feel as a switch to it wouldn't be hard but I could definately see the 737 becoming the most senior aircraft in the fleet or something along those lines.
I'll bite. Is this being talked about?

No.
As far as the pitfalls, they are numerous. Right now guys can use their seniority to bid pay or quality of life. Take pay out of the equation and there are dramatic impacts to where people bid, affecting every aspect of our job. Look at certain European carriers (non-rostered) for the results.
Would you like to be flying 767ER FO for DC-9 copilot wages? That's the result of a stove-piping the list for a straight pay matrix.

I guess that explains the 10-12 year 777 CA for Air France?
Can someone let me know the resv coverage in DTW, MSP, and MEM on the 320, and 755. Do they get used or do the get to stay home. Thanks
I wouldn't mind one day having 777 wages to fly day trips on a 737 though.
I don't really care either way, but if I was in a UPS style system I wouldn't mind getting the jolly of flying the heavies around the world early and then going back to the small aircraft later. And if we swapped into that type of system then it really shouldn't keep senior pilots from having the airplanes they want because they'll have the seniority they want and senior pilots in smaller aircraft would be paid more. There wouldn't be a chance for junior-ish pilots to get senior in a category like they do on the 9 or 88 though. Really, if you are junior you wouldn't be able to get senior in any category until you were, for lack of better terms, senior. So no climbing one ladder to get to a higher one because all of the ladders start on the ground floor.
So to me its more of a win for senior pilots and a loss for junior pilots. If I see it right. Its just long term WB wages in NB aircraft would be a nice option.

UPS does have one thing right for sure, its call "a turn trip with no rest break" and pays 6.5 hrs/day.
IOW your productivity break is a good thing.
The best one I saw was Louisville - Ft Wayne - Louisville = 6.5 hrs.
Do that 11 times a month and you'll never grow old.

Everything is going to change as they ramp up utilization, especially on the M88 and 320. I can only speak for DTW 320, but I flew a ton over the summer on reserve (80+ hours a month) and have hardly done anything since labor day. It's been great. Oct: 4 legs. Nov: 2 legs, and 4 SC's. So far Dec: 1 4-day, 2 SC's, and am fully expecting maybe one more trip over the holiday. I'm guessing/hoping it will stay this way until May or so.
