Back when I was on reserve during the early part of the big intn'l expansion, I could often get released early but then scheduling started to get burned on it. With all those aircraft coming out of ATL (and CVG at the time) heading over the pond, they'd come right over the top of JFK. (not so much CVG but you get the point) Anyhow, invariably you'd have planes that would have a mechanical and guess where the best place is to get it sorted out, of course JFK. Problem is, now the originating crew is illegal to continue and being that it's now late at night, scheduling has released all the JFK shortcalls. It didn't take very many times for this to happen that scheduling put the big axe on early releases. Maybe it sort of migrated to all fleets based on these instances.

Just saying, I once thought the same thing:

"weather's good, all the departures are gone, why can't they let me go?" But there can be other factors as well.

'Course now in NY(ER) we have departures that leave anywhere from first thing in the morning till well after midnight, so it's a moot point there now anyway.

Also, JFK will not longer be International only on the 7ER. 765 probably.

I also think that the NYC ER will continue to have a relatively large seniority spread because of the domestic/ latin america additions to the rotations.

It sucks to commute up there and do a 3 day 11hr trip. The 73N is more efficient if you are a junior lineholder.

ACL or anyone with a guess know what kind of widebody mix we might be looking at? And what the staffing levels for those jets are?

I think you were saying that JAL was already doing DFW to NRT? The only airline that does that currently is AA, and they have 2 daily 777s. So, maybe we could add a flight in there? Ah, the possibilities.

I'm not sure why. At NWA, the guys that lived in base would bid to work 30 days in a row (last 15 days of month + first 15 days of next month). Then these pilots would not bid long call thus putting them on short-call. At NWA, there was no max silo so being in the 30-day silo pegged you at the bottom of the list until you had about 10 days left. These pilots might fly a trip a month and would get paid 75 hours. The con to the NWA system was there were junior commuter pilots who would never see long call. Also, under the NWA system, you couldn't sit long call on your last day of reserve.

Looking at the recent lines that were put out... I cannot imagine a worse h8ll than 8 new york commutes.

So what's the difference between the 7ER and 765?

765 equals the 767-400. It is flown as a different category then the 7ER which is the 767-300 and 757.

Until there is a playoff system, all this talk is hot air. Alabama isn't the only team with 13 wins this year. You can say all you want about what would happen, but until there is a playoff it is a rigged system. I'm not knocking Alabama. They have an outstanding team, but they aren't the only undefeated one.
