1. JAL - a lot of things hinge on this going our way. The legal folks have already got the anti trust piece coordinated (unofficially) thru the DOJ.

Dang! Either those guys are really good - or they've been working on this a whole lot longer than we've been aware of it as a possibility. I remember the bufoonery when we initially tried to get PVG route authority, we looked like fools. Now we look like professionals. (my comments)

-MD90s are a part of the JAL dealSome not all

-DTW will be a base for MD90's.??

-GUM looks more certain, tied with JAL. IMO JAL looks pretty certain.Few things need to happen to make it happen

2. 747-400 sim - another one is enroute to natco fo sho. 4 each 747s as a quid pro quo for 787 delays plus additional #s of them. The BOD must have blinked.Really getting another 744 sim?

3. A330s - 16-18? additional. Not sure a real number is being floated, this was the speculated #.10+ maybe

4. A330 sim certified early spring, A330s to atl on the may/june AE. +1

5. Hiring next year as SD said, not this year. Greenslips aplenty this summer. Did not know the final decision was made

6. DAL to do KLM under/over wing servicing at JFK. I view this as an intra-company transfer payment, but it adds to the DAL balance sheet.

7. Alaska is just a rumor now. ........

8. No info or confirmation on 777s or 100-ish seater (wink wink nod nod on embraer). +1 :D

9. No idea what the 767-400s will be flying out of JFK after this summer. Huh?

-I just wonder if these are on the market and those A330s are their replacement. Assumed White tails

Everything of course hinges on the economy and other factors.

I can't think of anything else to share and some of my thoughts no doubt have rough edges. I know most of this stuff isnt news, but some sheds light.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Sawdog. You're in our prayers as well. We know what you are going through. We had a similar situation 10 years ago. Now, our baby girl is beautiful, healthy and on top of the world. Delta will bend over backwards to help when it comes to family. Call the CP and tell them exactly what is going on. They'll help big time. Blessings, Buzz

I agree it needs to be done. To win NYC we need a first class facility in JFK.

While I believe everyone would LIKE to see a new facility at JFK, I am pretty sure that no one books away from DAL because the terminal is old and dilapidated. Maybe there are a few businessmen out there that sort of feel that way, and they are our best customers.. but truth be told.. we really don't NEED a shiny terminal to win NY. We just need competative pricing, which we have. Having an architeture background makes me personally want to see us do something spectacular, but I'm not holding my breath for a company that is in one of the most notoriously thin industries (wrt operating margins) to go out and spend a bunch of money to do that.

Our TV would be great if it ever had anything on except news channels. I guess we don't want to awaken all the sleeping FAs...

I hate LA... well certain members of the PAC 10 anyway... :D

[Sawdog-
Sorry to hear about your child. Best wishes for speedy recovery.
I'd call DALPA about your status. Not sure you are eligible for disability if you are not the one who is sick.
Family Medical Leave maybe?[/quote]

Sawdag - call the CPO office and speak with a Chief. They will do whatever it takes to give you teh time. Short Term and Sick time run concurrently, Long Term comes into play after that....

Scambo

I don't have inside informants like you guys have, but I do have the words of senior management. At the investor's conference in December they talked a lot about retiring debt this year so I am not sure they will be springing a bunch of money of new airplanes. Right now, we have a lot of unused wide body capacity so it seems like we will need to add a lot of new routes before we need new airplanes. Also, we have 757's that are stored in the desert that would be the next most logical fleet addition. I don't want to be the wet blanket on the party, but I am skeptical of any big fleet purchases right now. I think the 787 default settlement will settled with cash, just my guess.

The JAL MD-90's are a sale-leaseback transaction according to Richard's chat. That means JAL will fly them or at least some of them still. We will own them and probably at some time they will come to Delta. Right now we have 12 MD-90's that are not in service yet.

I would like nothing more than a bunch of wide body growth, but senior management was pretty adamant at the investor's conference about paying down debt. They have been pretty consistent about doing what they say to the investors. I hope I am wrong.

-GUM looks more certain, tied with JAL. IMO JAL looks pretty certain.Few things need to happen to make it happen Roger that, I'm not saying DAL is sitting back and watching pieces fall into place, there is a ton of grunt work still to do. The momentum is in that direction tho.

Agreed that it is not "New" that we need. We need functional, and we do not have that. The biggiest issue is ppl missing their connects either overseas or coming back. You do that a few times and ppl spend the night there, I am sure ppl will start paying more for someone else. It does not matter what it is, as long as we can get jets in and out. No more of these three hr sits (even 20 min sits) for gates.
