Cold... more to do with their staffing. The parking of the 9's isnt helping though.

This is going to be a long, tense wait.

Happy New Year. Welcome to Detroit.

And my New Years resolution was going to be to stop drinking. Oh well I'll push it off a few years.

Cold as in colder than outside right now cold. And wet and rainy to boot.

Cold. DC-9s are going away, but the big losses on this bid will be in ATL. About half the 765 category moving to NYC, and about a third of the 767 category gone. There will be much carnage in ATL.

On the plus side if you are based in NYC expect to move up in the world.

Right on let's go in with a large enough operation to maybe push them to pull out more routes. Strike when the iron is hot!:)

Bar;
I had actually heard a little different version.

What I heard was that GUM was an emerging opportunity since air micronesia (CAL) was in pullback mode and DAL saw that as an opportunity to fill the void. Additionally, the GUM operation would dovetail well with asia hub operations. The GUM as fallback (to NRT) option was something I have only seen in this thread.

FWIW, it doesn't mean I heard correctly, but what I have posted makes more sense to me.

I am still interested in hearing ACL's surprise in the AE. None of my contacts have any idea what it might be - if anything. A PM would be nice so I can rebalance my displacement preferences.

Scambo,

I've heard the same and just to add, the other NRT rumor is that we need to fill freighter slots, ergo 737s for really small markets that Cal is pulling back from.

Interesting times out here,

CAL is pulling back, and they arent in SKYTEAM anymore therefore DAL has lost its feed and codeshare ability in GUM. This is a great time for us to ramp up GUM and set up shop.

Who gets trained first again? AE's in seniority then MD's in reverse seniority, right???

Where has CAL stated that it is pulling back in Guam?

Thanks 80! Peaking in on the rumors, I've changed my mind on what to put on my cards 3 times in the last 3 hours. :D
