Do not waste your time until you see the bid. Trust me.

But, you know, of course, this would be the time I have possible plans for next year, that have deadlines coming up in the upcoming days. That's why I'm a little more into it right now than I normally would be at this point.

IMO you will have plenty of time after you graduate to compete the guessing process. Just put a VD to the DTW9B and you will be fine. :D

I've always wanted to bid #1!! Some of those DC-9A's are kind of strange though. :D

Thanks Dragon and Gunfighter. You may have just allowed me to be home for Christmas AND have enough time to find a town and house to live in before the buyers move into our house. That's worth a case a piece I think.

Cold. DC-9s are going away, but the big losses on this bid will be in ATL. About half the 765 category moving to NYC, and about a third of the 767 category gone. There will be much carnage in ATL.

On the plus side if you are based in NYC expect to move up in the world.

This is news to me. Any truth to this rumor?

Question for those in the know. I'm currently finishing up initial a/c training in MSP and about to start OE. Someone told me that after OE was finished, that I had the option of dropping the rest of the month and just getting paid the credit that I had accumulated thus far in the month vs. being time available per the PWA. I talked with training scheduling and they didn't have a clue either way. So I called crew scheduling and they gave me a big negative. However, it's in their interest for me to not drop the last ten days of the month so I want to pursue it. Any Delta-S'ers have any knowledge of this? If not, who do you recommend that I ask?

Eck,

The others are right. It's called a blank regular line. Here is the quote from Sec 23 of the contract:

19. A pilot who has converted into a category, but is not bid-qualified, will be assigned an RQ line.
Exception: Such pilot may, at his option, be awarded a blank regular line commencing on the day following the actual completion of his OE, provided he notifies Crew Scheduling after completion of his training but before completion of his OE.
Note: An entry level pilot, upon completion of initial OE training (including transoceanic OE), is not eligible to be awarded a blank regular line.

Just make sure you do the above highlighted and if they wont do it, call the union!

Denny

I like the rumor about Guam. Abandon your wife and kids? What kind of "family oriented" outfit would make that a rule? Are we at war, or is this a job?

I doubt we'll see anything quite that harsh. Atlanta is the most profitable hub in the system. Detroit might make for a convenient flow to Asia, but they can deadhead 767 crews to NRT from Atlanta just as easily as they can from DTW.

Lets wait and see.

Don't know. But my source is a 767 LCA who lives in my neighborhood. He heard it from his CLCP.

The idea a week or so ago was 65~ from each seat on the 767 in ATL. There was no talk of just converting them to the ER, but ya never know.

I have heard what you state as well, but that is just plain ugly. I assume the time would be flow by the very overstaffed DTW 755.

(Of a digging I go....)

To add more fuel to the proverbial fire, most guys I have flown with are looking at going with the time to JFK, but probably not gonna do it. Don't want the hassle. Course, this is informal and it gets talked to death and flip-flopped over 10 hours.
