BTW, scenes like the above are pretty standard for a Saturday in Austin on gameday :) Just another Gameday tailgating scene :)

The question is whether there is a offer better than a job NWA pilots bypassed. The question involves the forced relocation to a inferior position by a NWA pilot who desires to take my job. If you ask the right question, the answer is "certainly." I never applied to NWA. That wasn't accidental. There's a lot of luck involved in this business. It is what it is. It sure isn't status quo. Unfortunately, I'm junior to almost everybody so I can't help you out there. |

Some honest truths are being told in here. If we pass the word to the next generation, maybe they can avoid some of the pitfalls we have had to endure. I made it to the majors and am still looking at getting out. The price this business takes on the family is one I failed to estimate correctly. |

Unfortunately, I'm junior to almost everybody so I can't help you out there. We have had this discussion before during the SLI, but I still have to ask: what job do you own at Delta? Come on man. We are all Delta pilots now. If you think you might be bumped by someone who is flying an inferior position, I'm sorry. But, If someone does "take your job," I bet they are equally as unhappy as you are about some things. Just keep in mind (For the most part) : 1.) Delta North pilots don't like how the SLI went because of who they were merged with on the DAL South list DOH-wise. 2.) Delta South pilots don't like how they SLI went because of who the were merged with on the DAL-North list because of the the airplanes they were flying. 3.) This merger was probably planned long before you were even hired. Just about everyone is unhappy with the SLI and where that puts us in future years. Be happy about it. We are not US Air. We have an AE bid coming up and didn't just park our entire fleet of 737's. We had a retirement incentive program and don't have a bunch of s/o's trying to come back and fly left seat of the -400. Hell, two months ago we were talking about furloughs. I feel like using they Hyman Roth voice in Godfather II, when I say, "this is the business we've chosen," and none of us, as pilots, have our own personal jobs. For me personally, a great question to ask is, whats going on around the rest of the industry. When I come up with the answer, I feel pretty lucky. I can't think of a single airline that talking about expanding flying and being short for next summer. As for you and your questions, what if you did live in MEM and took a job with Fed Ex back then, what would you be doing right now? What would you be doing after DAL had announced the reductions earlier this year? All I'm saying is that if you get bumped from your position in ATL, it's not because some NWA pilot took your job. If it happens, it will be bacause a Delta pilot is exercising his seniority rights. I hope you don't get bumped, New K Now |
