Of course, you hear people on the People Movers saying "what is this - the 1970s? Why can't we have a gate?" Also, people missing connections because of no gates - makes it expensive for Delta and annoys the customers. |

We will own them and probably at some time they will come to Delta. Right now we have 12 MD-90's that are not in service yet. I would like nothing more than a bunch of wide body growth, but senior management was pretty adamant at the investor's conference about paying down debt. They have been pretty consistent about doing what they say to the investors. I hope I am wrong. Alfa; I cannot disagree with you. And while I was writing, I knew some of what I wrote contradicted RA. Reporting is different than defending a business plan. I was just reporting. I had an opportunity to have a sit down today and pretty much just laid out all the rumors floating that I could think of and got answers to some and quasi-answers to others. I then posted what I could facually remember with my limited skill in english. IMO, until the rubber is on the ramp everything is just still a rumor. I dont think you are being a wet blanket at all, just practical. Scambo This is "the latest and greatest" My post was written in that spirit and nothing more. |

Let me preface this by: THIS IS HOW I UNDERSTAND IT:
They CAN fly you into your soft (X) days but not golden days (*). If they do that, they give you PB (pay back) on your schedule on your next scheduled work day for exactly the number of HOURS that they used you on your soft (X) day off! When they fly you for 12 hours into your soft day off, they will just start your next scheduled reserve 12 hours later. I.E. You will be PB (paid back) your 12 hours by just starting your next reserve period at Noon vs Midnight. Long story short is that they can't fly you into a golden day so that's why you are automatically released at noon from long call preceding a golden day, but not so much for an soft (X) day off. Clear as mud? Best...Philly

I'm with Crunch in thinking I'd be pretty much in the clear as of noon--not enough time to give me a trip that starts before my last reserve day ends. Heck, it's not flying into the X day, it's starting in the X day in such an scenario.:confused: |

I agree, it is easy to state that we will not buy new jets. I can tell you that unless they come at a fire sale price, we are not in the market. Some of them may be just that. Do you mean to say that its your understanding a pilot who is on his last day of reserve before an X day ("soft" day) is still considered available for an assignment after noon that day? e.g. can scheduling call at 1400 and assign a trip that has a 0300 sign in that falls on an X (soft) day?
