I took the city bus one time from the airport to the French Quarter (expressjet put us up at the airport), and I didn't see anything remotely similiar to that. Congrats New Orleans.
Having lived in NOLA for quite a while, the one thing you learn is that with even (or even especially) with the really good looking ones, you need to make sure it's the "manufacturers original equipment". Think AC/DC, if ya know what I mean. Nu |

If I was awarded a new aircraft in the Jan bid, can I re-bid again in May? Projected training in June and conversion is August.

I was awarded CVG on the January AE. If CVG were to shrink before I convert in September, would I be able to displace as if I were already in CVG or just stay put in current base?

Heyas,
For you fNWA types, the "part 3" orientation is up on LMS, if you want to get a head start. Its FPS (flight planning) and AWABS. Bring caffeine. Interesting question....it looks like they are going to run FPS/Worldflight and AWABS/MGL concurrently, depending on the fleet and the layout of the program looks like some of our fDAL brothers will have to sit through a Worldflight/MGL class. Having sat through it, Some parts of FPS are nice and I like some of the detail it goes into, but I think the layout of Worldflight is better for finding what you need. I also like how everyone gets their own copy of the release. MGL, OTOH, is the hands down winner. Pop a runway in the box, and out spits the answer. No interpretation needed, and saves an a$$load of paper. AWABS is nice if you have to compare and contrast, but you can do that on the prelim MGL anyway. To be honest, despite getting the numbers at the gate, things are WAY busier on the taxiout than they ever were under the NWA system, and God forbid you get a runway change. You might as well pull off into the de-ice pad and sit for 15 minutes while you search for all the tiny black boxes (ya couldn't collect them in a "runway change" section, now could ya?). My $0.02. I'm just blathering because it's raining here and I'm bored. Nu |

Nu I haven't looked at it yet, but this sounds like it could be a real money winner......for the pilots that is, as we pull over, figure out the takeoff numbers, get back in line to get a different runway and pull off to the side again.....reminds me of a few summers ago ;) That does sound like a pain though. During the MSP base meeting they were also discussing the benefit of worldflight vs the other (is it AWABS??) and offairway routing (around mountain wave, etc) [I glossed over at this point and focused on my soda and completing the form for joining in the Delta care fund]. Sounds like the AWABS is not near as flexible but there is supposedly additional functionality that could be activated to help with these problems. It is a wait and see I guess. |

My read on it is that they are trying to figure out which one works best. To be honest, even as a new hire, I got the hang of MGL after the first time through, even without ACARS. It's taken me 4-5 times to figure out how AWABS is supposed to work. Nu |
